I had the pleasure and the luck to see this show in 1980 at the Palais des Sports in Paris. Gavroche's death was the most moving moment of the show, even the musicians in the pit (of which my father was a part) were moved. At that time there were still great orchestras that accompanied, now they are computers often. It is Fabrice Ploquin who sings the role of Gavroche on the record, and on stage he alternated with two other young boys (because child artists do not have the right to work every day). Fabrice was a real Parisian, he was only 16 years old, had left his parents' home and lived alone as an adult while managing ... I also wanted to specify that on the record the voice of Courfeyrac is the composer of the musical, Claude-Michel Schönberg.

That's wonderful information! May I also ask about how the barricade boys died in the original? Seeing from the audio bootleg, there doesn't seem to be a moment where it indicated the revolutionaries failed… (Gavroche dies, and suddenly Marius is in bed healing, it seems…)

You have to remember that Les Miserables was well-known in France, so I have a feeling that the audience knew what happened without it happening.

I love that the French Gavroche can portray a politically astute lower class gamin. The English version plays on the image of the spunky Cockney kid, like the Artful Dodger in "Oliver Twist". I understand the show business rationale for the switch. But I love the French Gavroche and his part in this version of the musical homage to one of France's most honored novelists.

Cristin O'Keeffe I think the one in the 25th aniversary Les Miserables is a good english Gavroche, but I agree that the french one is incredible

damn.... this is even more sad than any other rendition you see of Gavroche's death in any of the movies or musical productions, it shows the immortality of Gavroche's spirit even as he faces his own death, after being cast away from his family, surviving in the street, it only made his spirit stronger, and at the unfortunate climax of his life, it's still there as he fades away... and that just makes his death even more unfortunate than it already is

J'ai eu le plaisir et la chance de voir ce spectacle en 1980 au Palais des Sports de Paris. Le passage de la mort de Gavroche était le moment le plus émouvant qui soit, mêmes les musiciens dans la fosse (dont mon père faisait parti) étaient émus. A cette époque il y avait encore de grands orchestres qui accompagnaient, maintenant ce sont des ordinateurs souvent. C'est Fabrice Ploquin qui chante le rôle de Gavroche sur le disque, et sur scène il alternait avec deux autres jeunes garçons (car les enfants artistes n'ont pas le droit de travailler tous les jours). Fabrice était un vrai titi parisien, il n'avait que 16 ans, était parti de chez ses parentsi et vivait tout seul comme un adulte en se débrouillant... Je voulais aussi préciser que sur le disque la voix de Courfeyrac est celle du compositeur de la comédie musicale, Claude-Michel Schönberg.

The musical is french since the author of the book is french. And besides all the more reason to love it since both the creators of the book and music are french. Althought that does not mean that the english version isn't very good. Cameron Mackintosh did not create the music. The composer of Les Miserables is Claude Michel Schonberg. That does not mean that Cameron did not add a few songs to the musical. The composer of Les Miserables is french although his last name sounds like german

Seni hep hope artta yorumlarda görüyordum. Bu şarkının baştaki kısmını alarm sesi olarak indirmiştim.(grejuvadan dinlemiştim tabi) Bir tam halini dinlemek istedim Aradım aradım bulamadım.
