Op 20 augustus 2023 speelde Les Misérables de laatste voorstelling in Koninklijk Theater Carré van de 2023 tour. Dit was tevens de laatste voorstelling waarin René van Kooten de rol van Jean Valjean speelde. Na zijn hoofdrol in 2008/2009 deelde René deze rol nu, als alternate, met Milan van Waardenburg. René werd na afloop toegesproken door producent Hans Cornelissen.
