They are the most innovative dancers the world has ever seen and definitely have pushed the envelope far enough to mark a huge mark on the timeline of all the arts, let alone dance. They reflected so much history from the art and culture of France since the late 1800’s (referred to as La Fin de Siècle), that I was astounded when I first started watching them. The other art and culture influences are simply astonishing. Les Twins’ performances have been small, just goofing around on the streets or in their living spaces, have mesmerized their audiences in ways that let you know something was missing in the art scene before they rocketed themselves into our lives. Les Twins are at least once in century performers. I’m so glad that you appreciate them. They bring so much joy to so many. (By the way, Missy Elliot was trying to hunt them down after the YAK World of Dance San Diego KZbin video was released in 2010 when they were 21. Beyoncé was looking for them then too and didn’t even know that they were French. Les Twins couldn’t afford cell phones then. Alicia Keyes fell across the path of Laurent dancing by himself in the streets of Paris when they were maybe around 16. She invited Laurent to dance in her event show. Laurent got Larry fired from his job in a restaurant where Larry was working at the bar and getting cooking lessons from a chef, while Laurent had been dancing on the road in Europe, (His mother made Laurent pay rent to her because she didn’t think that dancing was a real job!) both Twins dropped out of the lycée (French high school.) Larry and Laurent danced with Alicia Keyes that night and have been on the road ever since. Missy Elliot was finally able to track them down, after Beyoncé scooped them up, and made videos with them. They adore her!
