i've LOVED lesley ever since i first heard "i'm gone,i'm going" and "unbeautiful", fourteen years later, still punches me right in the gut. that rasp! * i was the girl with every window of her SUV rolled down, blasting "psycho bitch" and singing at the top of my lungs, then crying in my bedroom, singing along to "thinking out loud". I'm that girl, all over again, anytime i feel nostalgic and put her music on, now. the soulful yearning in her voice for something more...it's all just soul-piercing and i wish she'd get more recognition. lord knows she's got the talent and the drive. definitely deserving of it.

When it came to your voice, it was love at first hear. You're so unique. Your lyrics and voice are stunningly emotive; the kind that seems to only come from Ireland. I'm delighted that you're still singing and writing after all these years.

Two-tone Blue What's wrong with Max Martin?
@two-toneblue74558 жыл бұрын
***** Holy fuck, Ray. He's a *producer*, for a start. 'Nuff said? Which means he's a hired gun, brought in by the corporation that owns the record company, for the express purpose of making everyone sound the same, consciously and deliberately stifling any individuality or creativity. See a problem yet?

Two-tone Blue I like how you say "holy fuck Ray" when you're the one with a rather narrow opinion of producers. In the case of, say, a Britney Spears (and many of her era) he probably could be attributed with stifling some unique traits she had in favor of producing a particular sound, but at the same time she's not much a songwriter so his hands are tied in those instances. At any rate, a producer's express purpose isn't to "make everyone sound the same" it's to make them sound good to a large slice of the population and producers are human like anyone else. They have a particular production/songwriting technique that works for them so they keep on using it. Very few producers are diverse enough to really keep changing up their sound from artist to artist and if they're working with recording artists who can't write, and they have to come up with the bones of the song themselves, they're kind of stuck. On the flip side, Butch Vig produced for Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, Garbage, and countless others and none of the bands he's produced sound alike, and that's probably in part because they could actually write their own music. And no, I don't see a problem. Lesley Roy's album was decent, she went on to become a songwriter and has never said a cross word about Max Martin. Besides, he's not even the only producer on the damn project. Furthermore I don't boo hoo for artists that choose to have their projects bankrolled by record companies and then whine when they can't be as creative as they would like to be. Record companies are investors, meaning they want a return on their money. If an artist wants to borrow money to make music, the record company wants to make sure they're going to sell enough for the investment to be worth it. And not every artist is good at the business aspect of music, so the companies intervene. It's laughable when some artists complain because they finish an album--that they got quite a bit of creative control over--and the record company merely asks them to come up with a suitable lead single, and even gives them the chance to come up with it on their own. And yeah, it's harder to make a living without a major label but not impossible. If these artists don't want that, there's other avenues. Otherwise they and their fans need to realize that they're in a business relationship with those companies and have certain financial obligations. They don't just get handed money to do whatever they please. So, Jesus holy mother fuckitty fuck Two-tone Blue!

***** Weeee-eelllll... Jesus H. jumped up titty-fucking Christ in a craphouse, Ray... I'll go along with ninety to a hundred percent of this. Here's the difference between you and I. If we fell overboard, I'd be screaming for a life jacket... you'd be describing the water.
