An angel among us; I first read about May and Leslie's story in a Reader's Digest article "The Miracle of May Lemke's Love" back in 1982. How wonderful to meet this woman virtually, belatedly, with tears streaming down my face, an incarnation of the miraculous power of uncompromising, persistent love.

I remember meeting leslie lemke... actually stayed at his house with Mary (May's daughter and now his caregiver).. I was a kid at the time. His music is wonderful. my mother was going to do some concert works with them but sadly Mary and my mother had a fallout and we ended up going back home.. I often think about him and wonder how he's doing these days.

There is no one on this earth, no matter their disability or abiity, mental or physical, who isn't important. We kill some of them. Leslie is an incredibly unique individual, but there are people the world has given up on who defy expectations, even though they don't have this rare gift. I have a friend who adopts such people and most of them blow the doctors' prognosis out of the water.

I'm sitting here in Pittsburgh, I just flew in from New York. Next on the agenda is a plane to Chicago, then Green Bay, and an hour and a half drive to Marian University in Fond Du Lac Wisconsin. It's all worth it though...because tonight, April 15, 2011, I get to see the one and only Leslie Lemke live in concert.
