Even the desert regions of Chad are experiencing unprecedented flooding, affecting more than a million people. Rising waters have submerged vast agricultural areas, jeopardizing vital production in a country where food insecurity severely impacts a third of the population. In the south, despite the presence of oil resources, local communities remain excluded from the economic benefits and endure exhausting journeys to get around. Every week, Norbert and Souleymane struggle along a broken track to supply nearby markets. Meanwhile, in the Salamat region, washed-out roads and flooded paths turn ordinary travel into a daunting challenge against the relentless force of the water.
