My theory behind the low compression at the start of the video is the rebuild is still just bedding in , it's choked up by the blocked cats , hence the misfire arriving 2nd to last pull so the run in has been ass , now that you cleaned up the plugs and gave it some beans it's building compression, clear the cats , clean the plugs run another comp test then power run it again

Hiqh torque starter is the single best upgrade for rotaries imo. Next, maybe coils

Those stock compression numbers are better than my brand new stage 2 engine from Pettit Racing (located in Riviera Beach, FL).

I’ll tell you this … mine is at 144k …I’ve put bennet built coils and mid pipe to an rx7fc single muffler … only thing I’m fighting right now is the valves in the intake not opening when they should … try also freeing them or cleaning them … it may make a bit more …. And solenoids also for the emissions will be shit and are a detriment to any vehicle …. But yeah they can free up air flow and make things open up better … in my street port block I’ve cleaned up the intake immensely and plan on shaving some meat off of the valves themselves to open up faster …. But I feel the issue with rx8s are restriction to cure low end torque and it being NA it’s gonna have limits unless you swop a four port and itb it and simplify it … but you still lose low end till supposedly 5k but it’ll rev and gain without limitations … but it’s a new thing to put time into and research and trial an error ! Also stand alone ecu !!!!!! Huge game changer and running proper afr sensors and so on may be a better go to …to tune better for rpm ratios to afr’s !

Intake not so much, the stock intake is actually pretty good and hard to beat unless you want more noise. Decat can free up some horses but I have found it lowers the low down torque even further. Probably great for track but not so great on the street

Bone stock with used parts is not bone stock it’s old and tired. This is why good rotary shops only want to build engines with at least two new housings and seals
