I bowled with a bunch of veterans some 25 years ago. I listened as they opened up about their experiences during the war. One man, Jerry was a B17 pilot who was shot down in 44 and spent the rest of the war as a POW. Jerry was nearly blind but that did not stop him from bowling or living. I say thanks to all of the fighting men and women who have served our country.

Yes, they do get it, which is precisely why they say "Happy" Memorial Day. It's a reminder to not just head off to the lake, but to remember all of those people and the unimaginable sacrifice to ensure their family, friends, and everyone of this nation may continue to appreciate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence. Yes, it's a time of quiet reflection, hard as it is for so many of the living, but it is also a time to celebrate the servicemen & women's lives with gratitude and happiness because for one, who doesn't enjoy a good party - especially those in service. It's hard to think of anyone who deserves happiness more than those servicemen & women, and for us to give positive energy to their souls to know they didn't give their lives in vain. Anyway, I for one intend to remember, pray for, and celebrate every last one of them to bring that energy of joy to their souls. They deserve it. They had enough misery. It is a time to bring them the happiness they so rightfully deserve.

“ In Flanders fields the poppies blow between the crosses row on row that mark our place and in the sky the larks still bravely singing fly scarce heard amid the guns below We are the dead, short days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow loved and were loved and now we lie in Flanders fields Take up our quarrel with the foe from falling hands to thee we throw this torch be yours to carry high If ye break faith with us who die we shall not sleep though poppies grow in Flanders fields”.
