I want to ask a question.I have calculated Fs from Michalowski’s (2002) 1.875 and I have calculated Fs=2.047 from slope stability program. What is the reason of this difference?

The safety factor depends on several assumptions that define the method. For the same failure line, you can have different results if you apply one method or another. On the other hand, you should consider several failure lines to establish a set of safety factors. This is because you do not actually know what the real failure line is. Once you have a considerably high number of safety factors (100-1,000) for your slope, you should choose the smallest one as the good one. This is good practice. In academia, we usually solve just one case to learn the methods.
