is this applicable to drawing characters too? Or is it only for buildings
@schoolofsketching6 ай бұрын
Hi Jack 👋 Absolutely! Perspective rules apply not only to buildings but also to characters in drawings. Just like how architectural elements can be simplified to basic shapes for accurate perspective, characters can also be represented using geometric forms to ensure spatial relationships and depth (a scull to a box for instance, as they teach at classic drawing classes at the Art Academies). Another example: In "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," perspective is skillfully applied to both skyscrapers and characters, enhancing depth and realism. The thing is that the scale is different (remember, I showed an example in this lesson with a matchbox and architecture?) While the scale may vary, perspective principles remain consistent, adding depth and dimension to drawings. Mastering perspective is crucial for creating convincing and compelling artwork across various subjects. 🙂

I was wondering how can we apply this to our watercolor landscape /sunset paintings. is it possible as an underdrawing with watercolor soluble colored pencils,Olga

Good question, Reena. Perspective can be applied ANYWHERE if you're dealing with drawings of our 3-dimensional world and if you want to draw it the way we see it. If you have for instance a boat floating in the water in your watercolour drawing -- you also apply perspective principles while drawing the boat. 🛶 And yes, you can absolutely use coloured pencils as well 🙂
