I wonder something.I saw following sentence on the your exercise at the end of the lesson. 'Der Vater liest die Zeitung.' and it is written nearby that The father reads the newspaper. Why isn't the translation 'The father is reading the newspaper.' I remember you said German presents tense corresponds present simple and present continues in English . You'd be really helping me out. Bis bald!

Hello! That is an excellent question and correct observation. When choosing my example sentences I often wonder if I should translate as literally as possible or as contextually correct as possible. You are right that a native speaker would probably choose present continuous tense here, as it usually describes an action in progress.
