Dr. Wambungu, thank you for the lesson. I have a question. My research investigates workplace bullying in the Gauteng hospitality sector and its perceived impact on employee engagement and labour turnover. Is the Gauteng hospitality industry my unit analysis, and employees in the sector my target population?

You can not analyze a hospital. Who in the hospital?

Madam , what should be the percentage of institutions in accessible population from target population?

Percentages are not scientific. Use the formulae to determine your sample. Population is actual based on the people you are targeting

Good explanation! I have a question here though; Is there any harm if a PhD thesis has less than 4 objectives ( 3-4 objectives)? A number of theses I have read tend to have more than 4 objectives and at times the objectives mean nothing, but appearing repeatedly (tautologising). Your response will be highly appreciated Prof.

The number of objectives are speaking on the variables of the study. In most cases,phd thesis has more because of the amount of research you are expected to undertake. However, the number is not cast on stone, different departments/ faculties dictate the number of the variables to study for their students

hi do you know the actual Number of the population the Number is determined? during sample size
@research-methods-class

You must have the population for you to determine the sample size. However, if your population is I finite, then the sample size is 384. Check krejcie and morgan 1970 table of sampling

My question is that if the population of the study is infinite , the sample size is drawn from population or study population ?

If a population is infinite, the sample size should be 384. Check Krejcie and Morgan (1970) table of sample determination

Do you guess the population ? Incase you are focusing on a bank, mainly targeting service quality. The target population is customers. How can you come up with the population ?

Population is either finite or infinite. For infinite population, the sample size is 384. Check krejcie and morgan table (1970) on Google
