Dropping whole fresh shrimp was the ticket to success on this mid-October day. Black Drum and Red Drum pushed out the Black Sea Bass and Pinfish leading to a very successful morning run. Sea Urchins also produced a short lived but successful bite at the first part of the incoming tide. Lesson of the day - whole fresh dead shrimp can be a cheap and effective bait option for landing large, edible fish during the month of October. Get out there and have some fun this fall!
16' Sundance Skiff, 30HP Mercury
Daiwa Saltist LD30H - Penn Carnage II 6'2"
Shimano Torium 20HG - Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 6'6" Heavy, Medium Fast
Shimano Stradic 4000 - Fenwick HMG 7', Medium Fast
Penn Fathom 25NLD2 - Shimano Trevala Jigging Rod 5'8" Heavy, Medium Fast
Double Hook Carolina Rig taught in "Early Spring Sheepshead" episode at 2:38.
Catch Sea Urchins on pilings and other structure below the high tide line (WEAR GLOVES, the spines are non-venomous but can leave splinters and oyster cuts are nasty), I recommend using a crab net.

Man, yall killed it. We fished that bridge a week and a half ago; only got black sea bass, and I think I caught that same toad fish. Your videos always make me want to head straight the water! Nice work!

Been feeding on your channel this afternoon. Work is bringing me down to your area next year. I am told by "many" people that I need a 20' or larger craft. I see you fishing the areas I want to concentrate on with im guessing a 16' or is it a 14' CS? Curious what your HP is also. Looks like your boat can move. Any thoughts on a 16' aluminum V hull boat? (thats what we grew up using around the boulder strewn shores of Long Island) Thanks for the great content. I cant wait to be a part of the fishery down there!

I am running a 16' Sundance Skiff with a 30HP Mercury. Aluminum boats are great but not a sturdy because they don't weigh as much. You would need a bigger boat to go out the inlet. Good luck out there!

You should make a video show how you tie off and what you are looking for in a spot. Like structure on the sonar or whatever
@offkilterfishing
@offkilterfishing 2 жыл бұрын
I have never used sonar, what I look for is substantial structure with a break in the current. I usually look for a place out of the wind so that I can comfortably fish. Soak good fresh bait and the fish will find you. Solunar table and tide play a big factor as well. I tie off with a bowline knot and I like to use a bungee on the rope to create a spring line. I have incorporated all of this info in my videos at some point. Hope this helps...
