i also have a harder time maintaining nitrates than PO4. MY NO3 just bottoms out so quickly even if im feeding heavy. Turned the skimmer off, pulled out my filter floss.

Yeah, I'm just learning that the increase or decrease in alkalinity corresponds with changes to the tank. From lighting, nutrients, trace elements, etc

I'm interested in your food recipe. Haven't started making my own yet, but am hoping to start very soon. Thanks!

Learned this exaxt lesson the hard way. Still have one red digit barely hanging on.

Use a smart power strip/outlet for the skimmer if it’s not already plugged into one or a controller and just turn off the skimmer for a few hours a days?

You should definitely post your food you end with. I'm also having some nitrate issues and would love to fix it with food.

What levels do you keep your Nitrates at?
@FishOfHex Жыл бұрын
I'm trying to stay around 10ppm atm. Trying out a few different levels to see how corals react and colors

Yea, i finally realized that feeding my herbivores more sea weed keeps my PO3 stable.

Love the channel, but dosing to fix excess nutrient export is counter productive..... It is on the same level as people water changing weekly and then telling people how to fish tank....
@FishOfHex Жыл бұрын
I dont think so. Turning off an export method like a skimmer or refugium would drastically lower the ph as the system is in the basement. That lower ph would decrease coral growth. Dosing a few 100ml of no3 everyday that i make myself works and has worked for a long time. Remember I grew this tank out the first time using the same method. 1 inch frags to corals growing out of the water in under two years.
