Great song from a band down under that I love. Also after I look at some scale ideas etc.

I've played around clubs in West Cork with Steve Housden, the lead guitarist for TLRB, who lives near Clonakilty. He's an excellent guitarist who uses a Strat most of the time; he's better than I'll ever be, and a great blues player. I've always liked that song.

Little River Band deserves to be recognized as one of the greatest and most talented bands in history, like Fleetwood Mac, etc, but for some reason they aren't. Any musician that appreciates talent knows how great they are. Their live performances blow me away. They are all consumate players/singers.

That weird chord you don’t quite know but hear the vocal on the A, try a C13/G. This sounds like what you were searching for. I had the tab from a tab master from 20 years past. This is what he played.

Nice. If you ever want to do “it’s a long way there “ that would be awesome. That is one of my favorites. The lead in that song is one of my favorites because it is so tastefully done not too much not too little. Have a good weekend

I have been wanting to learn this song for years, you have demystified it. When you start talking about scales etc, I wondered whether you are talking about modes. Anyway great tutorial. LRB had a string of hits in the 70's, 80's and early 90's
@DavesGuitarChannel4 жыл бұрын
I do not like to talk modes. Check out my video on why I don't like modes. I feel it clouds the communication. I don't need 7 names for a scale just because we are starting on a different note position. :P
@gsf674 жыл бұрын
@@DavesGuitarChannel Fair enough, I'm trying to increase my theory knowledge, and this has been somewhat of a murky area for me, and the concept of modes is something that I have been struggling with.
@DavesGuitarChannel4 жыл бұрын
@@gsf67 I have several videos on music theory and modes and I think it will clear them up for you.

Thank you, Dave. This is a tough tune to figure out by ear because, as you said, some of the signature notes might actually be carried by the vocals. This lesson clears the fog away. Much appreciated!

Great one Dave! You're starting to make me want to put my bass down once in a while grab one of my abandoned guitars out of their case:). Thx! I kind of wore out this out on an 8 Track tape, along with a Best of Bread 8 Track. LOL

Great. Was wondering if the b flat 9 variant played on the 1st fret is really a b flat min 9? I was playing with and it sounded the same as when attempting the standard b flat min 9... Im sure I could have read the fingering incorrectly though... thx
@DavesGuitarChannel4 жыл бұрын
I don't hear a third, so I omit the major or minor however I assume the Db would be out considering the D natural in the Bb major world be a common tone in all three chords. GMaj7- Bb9-D

Dave, Johnny D here.. Could any chance I talk with you on Zoom for improvement in my playing. I'm from Weymouth. Class of 81. We've tryed to get connect but my Dad was going through complications. I could get on after 8:30pm Eastern. Hope to hear from you. Learned the Steley Dan goods. Your good! Thanks man Johnny D

Dave, you must have hands of steel to play some of these chords on an acoustic as cleanly as you do.

I know why this song is giving me trouble. Your chords for the intro are not needed. You are playing shapes and not playing strings you are pressing on
@DavesGuitarChannel4 жыл бұрын
You are assuming I am pressing on them. I am only pressing down on the notes I am playing.
@stanleyderochea85244 жыл бұрын
@@DavesGuitarChannel exactly my point. Your making chord shapes and not using all of the chord shape. Its not so much a complaint but its just making it tougher for me to follow. Im gonna keep trying to decipher it
