Thank you for watching! ありがとうございます! NOTES: A lot of men use 'boku' at work when they talk to coworkers and 'watashi' to clients or in formal meetings, but some people say that using 'boku' at work is inappropriate and the most formal 'watashi' should be used. People have different opinions and you should know the rule, atmosphere and environment of the company or workplace. At work, it's better to use 'watashi' at the beginning and see how everyone else talk :)

Thank you for your comment! I’ll still upload some more lessons for basic Japanese but at the same time, I want you to use a textbook or app to widen your vocabulary and watch some videos in Japanese to get used to listening to natural Japanese😊

I see wataschi written in Hiragana and Kanji. Does that mean Japanese people can choose whether to use Hiragan or Kanji?

This was a great explanation, thank you! One question. As a man, is it rude to use おれ with a stranger?
@satous-nihongo-playground
@satous-nihongo-playground 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! It’s not rude to use おれ but if you want to be nice and polite, it’s better to use ぼく or わたし. (おれ sounds rude and childish in a really formal business scene) If that stranger looks around your age or younger than you and if it’s in a casual situation, おれ can be used too but it’s more like ‘casual and friendly way’ rather than ‘polite’. Hope this clarifies your question..

can females use boku and jibun
@satous-nihongo-playground
@satous-nihongo-playground 2 жыл бұрын
They can but it is rate to see women using boku and jibun. Some female anima characters use them. ‘Jibun’ is more like a neutral thing. It sounds like you are ‘strong, confident and independent grown up adults. I like it but some people think it sounds ‘self-assertive’ because it literally means ‘myself’. ‘Jibun’ is often used as ‘myself’ not as a first-person pronoun.
