What I Learnt from being in Tech for 10 years

I was lucky to get a job in tech without a CS degree, and I'm very grateful to have grown in the industry over the last 10 years. I have had some learnings along the way, and this video is what I would tell my younger self before entering the industry to not just survive but also thrive. I hope it helps others in a similar position as me.

I can think of 3 ways to become a VC. 1. Most venture capitalists atleast in the US were entrepreneurs in their past life. In my opinion, thats the best way to become a VC because you then become "qualified" to help other entrepreneurs if you have been one yourself. This way, you know all the mistakes you did and can help others apart from giving your money. This is the slow process though and perhaps why most VC's are older. An example of this is YCombinator, a VC firm in the US. Almost all their partners were YCombinator founders in the past. 2. Some VCs are high net-worth individuals who have climbed the corporate ladder and transitioned to investing. Again this seems to be a long game. 3. Getting good at finance and joining a VC firm as an associate: Perhaps this could be an option for you right now with your background? I personally would like to be a VC too and am trying to pursue option 1. Its the longer and harder way but seems more fulfilling and also gets respect from entrepreneurs.
