She's a black large format photographer, and her work explores our global experiences. She's received awards from the Guggenheim, worked with Vogue, and has her art in several permanent collections. i am a huge fan of this video and this was produced beautifully. i feel as a modern-day photographer we tend to draw inspirations of the people that come before us in a medium that seems to not have enough influence from the black perspective. i have learned to use modern-day photographers such as Dre to draw inspiration from because he does an amazing job of using his instrument to tell the truth of black culture. don't get me wrong there are a beautiful amount of black photographers that has com before us but havent in the spotlight like others. no one can document what its like to live in our skin better than we can.
