I got caught in this one too and it made me feel better when I got the email from profitly showing your trade on EFTR and you took a loss. I had a small $100 dollar position and my entry was .89 when this went up to $1.27 I knew for a fact this thing was gunna go super nova. I thought finally I'm gunna take a home run. I've never been more wrong, but it comforted me to know the pros get it wrong too. Thanks for all you do Tim and your transparency. With my small account I had almost 100 dollars in profits and with 4 bad trades that 100 dollar profit has disintegrated into 30. I needed this video. I understand it is a slippery slope!

It’s a slippery slope. Took to big of a position, averaged into a loser, not seeing the news then cut losses. It only take one bad trade to wipe out weeks or months of work. These types of trades are account killers. Do your 2700 burpees. Thanks for the lesson Tim.

Reminds me of when I lost about $3K on MLGO when I meant to risk $50! I was trying to do too much and not paying attention. I saw MLGO running a bit pre-market and I decided to try a "opening range breakout" strategy I saw. So I put in a buy-stop order (which I knew would be active after market open) in case it broke above a resistance I was watching. Being a newbie I didn't realize I was supposed to put in a "buy-stop-limit" order instead. It ran way above my buy-stop level before the open, so at market open my order filled MUCH higher than I intended. I also meant to buy about $1000 worth but accidentally bought the default of 100 shares. I was horrified when I saw I had about $6K in, so tried to sell immediately. But it was halted down. I ended up losing about 50%, i.e. $3K. Ouch!

​@@loupasternak your comment reminds me of a story. the story of a lady that had invested in Carvana around Sep of 2021. she wrote in a forum that she was down 50k on the position and didn't know what to do... I told her to sell and place trailing stops in the future. I hope she headed my warning... from $300 to $7. cut losses quickly or the frost bite will spread and you will lose more than just a finger

@@loupasternak dude you can do whatever you want but if your stop is constantly getting triggered then that's the market telling you you are not buying @ good levels, the market environment is hostile or in some cases you might be chasing. not to mention that unless your a computer, trading 100x a day will only muddle your emotional state (underrated). but hey, again do whatever you want. your life, your choices, your future. I wish you the best

Dang. This loss reminds me so much of my biggest losses. Starting with larger size or fat fingering the first entry, doubling the position on another dip to average up and sell into the pop, drops more and adding once more... then just taking the hit by cutting because fear finally overcame greed. It's sooo hard to keep your head together, especially after the entry size was unintentional. Like, how do you find the balance after the first mistake besides cutting 90% of the position right away, despite the gain or loss, and keeping a clear mind for the 10% size you intended on using? I don't know. Maybe just cutting everything and stepping away for a few minutes to let time defeat the false bias and other biases that can stem off of that trade and affect others is the best. Such a slippery slope. Offerings are the worst, especially when you don't know about it and it's at a good entry point. Thank you for sharing this very valuable lesson.

I believe that you are a Brilliant trader, no one is 100 % in the market, I like using a form factor computer with an ethernet connection, and I use a backlit Logitech keyboard, the larger keyboard and the fast secure ethernet seem tops

When I came home to Pittsburgh to visit a year and a half ago I thought my sell got executed but unfortunately due to bad wifi it didn't go through and found out I was down well over $100 on my $600 trading account through think or swim. I sucked it up and took it as a learning experience. 2 other times I thought I hit the sell button but his the buy button and was up a couple 100. Both learning experiences to pay better attention.
