14:40-16:05 segment is basically flat-out saying that Armenia should be ready to fight Russia with Turkey's help, implying the possibility that a second front could be openend in the caucasus for Russia. Which side and what role Armenia is supposed to be on/have in the eventuality of that second front is evident to the guest. Naturally so, he is a patriotic british officer defending his country's interests against its opponent on various fronts (Ukraine, possibly Armenia soon). But from an Armenian perspective, is it in Armenia's interests to become a new Ukraine in the Caucasus? Anyone with half a brain should see this as a rhetorical question.

Whatever the General said was very true. I have been in usa army for almost 10 years. When I came to Armenia to see hows look like if I join the Army there, After few hours of talking with some veterans I realized I can’t survive there without fully professional commanders. We need professional commanders. And I can tell we have many high rank great Armenians in USA military. We just need to get diaspora evolved in this for sure.

I think Armenia has already been running a full-society model for defense. When he was talking about money being raised by women in children for stuff for the father on the front lines of Ukraine, it sounded almost exactly like what we have seen in Armenia - fundraising for boots or medical packs or night vision scopes for the defenders on the front line.

This gentleman coming from UK for advise us , they adviced Ukraine too , look how its going in Ukraine now screwed back 50 years and 400-500.000 soldiers dead , millions of refugees . Uk has no army themselves , let him advices his own people first. They have some thing like 50 challenger tanks left for their whole country.

Ukraine isn't surrounded by hostile and semi hostile nations. It isnt facing two global powers as threats. The interview shouls have been about Turkeys role in 2016, 2020, and 2023.

@AA-yq7qu Israel is an independent superpower. Armenia is not. At the risk of sounding like a Pashinyan apologist, Armenia needs to be good with all, especially Turks, because with Turks as peaceful neighbors, Russians and Iranians have less power to manipulate Armenia.

Thank you for sharing thoughtful and important programs, like this one. And, for honest but imperative discussions. Armenia desperately needs to scape the dark shadows of Soviet Union Era and Russia’s nationalistic agendas. In this respect, the West and Armenian diaspora can help tremendously.

It doesn’t sound like he's really saying anything. Some of his criticisms of the "Soviet" system (are we still in 1990?) can be said of Turkey also, a NATO nation. Are they both deliberately ignoring that for decades after the Soviet collapse, Armenias Army sent its officers to moscow for officer training? I wish Eric Hacopian did thia interview instead.

we are indeed in 2023 but the armenian army is still in the 90s. So was the Artsakh defense army. We have to face it. The amount of corruption and inefficiency is stunning. Considering Russia we have seen there capabilities, and they are still on the Soviet doctrine, it’s obvious. So his analysis is accurate.

@bor1339 I think he's just skimming the surface with platitudes and propaganda. I want Armenia to be in NATO myself, but this interview was poor with questions and answers. No talk about the threats or warfare challenges, geopolitical ramifications, etc. It was all fluff, and didn't serve ANY purpose. The Brit didn't say anything, and could explain why Ukraine is struggling as much as it is. If anything, Ukraine today can learn from Artsakh 1988-1993.

One must be really naive to think that a 20 minutes interview can actually elaborate the major challenges facing a recently defeated army struggling to restructure. This kind of interview has very limited potential and it is only going to be general talk with very few specifics.

Brits are super intelligent and pragmatic but lacking in practice - do not underestimate Russia’s (its soldier) experience in the war. Turkey’s exceptional practical and smart war knowledge - and Azerbaijan’s hidden and proven capability….not sure if 🇦🇲 can develop a israel version of army:..:: they are too weak, polarized and not smart!

Key to reform is that is must be done by Armenia. The best that I can do is enable change by showing what can be done and how to do it. But the decisions must be Armenian. You cannot even dream of a UK model here and I would not dream of offering it. But there are common things for all successful models and they should be adopted.
