Lessons Learned Walking El Camino de Santiago

In my mid-fifties, I embarked on a life-changing journey, traveling alone to walk the 500-mile El Camino de Santiago in Spain. Despite having a successful career and material comforts, I felt a deep sense of dissatisfaction and a longing for purpose. The journey was physically and emotionally challenging, but it provided profound lessons in self-discovery, self-compassion, and the importance of being true to oneself. Through the ups and downs, I learned to listen to my needs and found a deep sense of belonging and joy that had been missing from my life.
Returning home, I struggled to reconcile the peace and fulfillment I found on the Camino with the stress and expectations of my old life. Realizing I couldn't go back to living a life that didn't align with my true self, I made the bold decision to quit my job and simplify my life.
