Great lesson Marcel, and it's good to hear the tremelo being used in a bluegrass guitar solo. It reminds me of the great Don Reno's solo on Gathering Flowers from the Hillside: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXaclnyVo6Zserc There are some lovely fill-in licks behind Red Smiley's vocals on this one as well. Digressing somewhat, I live in the UK, and I remember a great British bluegrass guitarist, Thaddeus Kaye, playing this solo back in the late 1960s. Thaddeus is sadly no longer with us - he was a brilliant player. He could play Doc Watson style - I remember Black Mountain Rag and June Apple for example, and Don Reno was a huge influence on Thaddeus's playing. He used a Guild D40 strung with heavy gauge strings, an amazing player.

You're calling this a "3/4 tune", sounds like 6/8 to me. Am I wrong?

@sad18240 Well, it is and it isn't. If you will watch the video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqOqhnioZp5_iNU from the chorus at 0:42, the emphasis is: LIFE it ain't so SIMPLE, LIFE it ain't so KIND. That's 6/8 to my ear. 3/4 would be: Life it AIN'T so SIMPLE (beat), LIFE it AIN'T so KIND (beat). That would make it sound like an Omm-pa-pa polka. I will concede that when you look up the sheet music for a lot of songs (probably this one included) that are actually played in 6/8, you will find them scored in 3/4. One thing I can say is that this girl has a STRONG voice, and she has an innate understanding about how to emote a song. I'm a big fan!
