I don't know why I never said it in the video but the "Mixolydian(ish)" scale can also be created by combining major and minor pentatonics that have the same tonic!

I am a life-long guitarist (but a relative newbie to bluegrass) who spends a lot of time on KZbin, and I feel like Marcel is the most relatable and best teacher out there. The production value is second to none, meaning it is actually a joy to watch his videos all the way through, rather than fast forwarding to the tabs. He doesn't hold your hand like most KZbin 'teachers' do, and by assuming you already know how to pick a bit, he can fit so much more instruction in his videos. Keep doing what you are doing, Marcel, and thank you for infecting me with the bluegrass bug!

Marcel. You are one of a kind. Been playing for about 16 years. I have a lot of ability but little technical knowledge of how everything works. Thank you

Marcel you should be teaching in college . I've played 50 years i never got a chance to have lessons with people as incredible a musician as you. I can learn more in 2 days from you than last 5 years. I've learned so much just from your freebies lessons I can imagine your course material. I feel 50 years was thrown away as no one was around that was a great teacher so we learned from guitar player magazine and what books we found like the be dangerous books that taught us but never a chance to ask questions to progress. Thanks for doing this for others that want it. I'm just glad I have such a love for the instrument I can only imagine had I really known how to learn in the early 70s.

Best, most organized, teacher on youtube. I appreciate your work. You have made my playing lightyears ahead of where I thought it could be. Keep up the good work Marcel .👍

Great video! I liked how you extended the position 2 pentatonic box to the major scale shape. Apart from the Albert King box, I didn’t know how to use position 2. Makes sense now. Thanks!

Your presentation is excellent. Is it possible/practical for you to make the instagram jazz and grass licks available on youtube? There are a few of us who would rather not use instagram, twitter, etc.

Why does the major 7th sound so beautiful in jazz and other contexts but not in bluegrass? Any thoughts?
