You're right. This horses consistent open mouth seems like he's trying to avoid the bit. He should be chewing on the bit and giving to it in order to communicate with the rider.

Not your typical looking dressage horse! Thoroughbred? Trakehner? Matter of nerves and being somewhat green to this level, he is willing and trying really hard but some transitions and those corners were bit rough. Music was really good and they were hitting beat perfectly through most of it.

@@lori5455 Hanoverians are not big like Holsteiners and Oldenburg’s. They tend to be a little finer. However, this horse is young so he may not be done filling out since warm looks so grow slowly.

She seems to be rushing. Many times her horse seems "strung out". The canter pirouette was horrible. It seemed like he was going to step on himself at any moment. There was no rhythm, very little cadence and not really engaged behind. He seemed like he was running away from her. I noticed several times in the corners as if his head was jeered a bit by the inside rein. I saw it a couple of times in the pirouette too. It's a shame - this could be a nice looking pair.

There is a difference between energy and rushing. She rushes all her horses and they are never in self carriage. I like this horse though.

If she'd have done this bitless, loose reigns and possibly no spurs, then I'd have been very impressed. However this is just the usual animal abuse going on in horse riding competitions. It's apparently too much to ask of the riders to ride in such a way to cause the least amount of pain on the horses. This is what happens when money gets involved. Ethics and morality goes out the window. -_-

@@ailbhelee7049 Oh I'm fully aware it's a "top level" or "elite level" competition. Also my point is, since you're a little hard at reading, that the problem lies with the competition and it's requirements. Good hay and a nice stall doesn't make for a good horse life...quite the contrary. The double bit, short reins and whatever else they require the horse to subject to does cause it immense amounts of pain. So yes it is animal abuse. That you're too deluded to see that or even wish to see that says a lot about you, mrs normie.

@@edronc2007 Yes it is. Because horses aren't physically made to spend their lives in a stall. They need to spend their day outside, together with other horses, moving around and grasing. It's physically bad for them to stand in a stall for most of the day and night.
