More History With Aleks, huh? Let Me Tell You About - Featuring the only history lessons that don't make you want to bang your head against the wall 'til you're back in the Stone Age! I know it's impossible, but I love the idea that Cortez's "I told you I was the right man for the job." letter had a photo of Cortez doin' the fingerguns.
@andresanlozada24954 жыл бұрын
Aside from some inaccurancies and getting the time line mixed up, this is a far better retelling of the story than the Amazon series. That Hernán series is basically "Cortés did nothing wrong: the series"
@Aleks2514 жыл бұрын
Cortez and Columbus are really similar. Both of them are massive assholes, but people are where they are today because of them, so they try to downplay a lot of their crimes.
@nilktots63804 жыл бұрын
but did they include the fact he shit himself to death with dysentery after going into debt?

I'd definitely love to see more of these history episodes! Also as a Native American I never realized just how intertwined Mexican culture and Aztec culture are, here in the U.S. my tribe's customs only extend to the reservation borders 🤔
@andresanlozada24954 жыл бұрын
Little fact: while the eagle story is true, another reason why the Aztecs were confined to the swamp was a punishment, because when the Aztecs arrived to the valley they killed the local chief's daugther and had a priest skin her and basically do the Buffalo Bill Goodbye Horses dance
@Aleks2514 жыл бұрын
Id love to do an episode on the Aztecs themselves because their history is pretty buts, but i wanted to stay focused on Cortez himself for this

LMTYA the Crusades. This would be amazing.
@Stormfin4 жыл бұрын
There are like seven of them, not including the Peasant's Crusade, the Children's Crusade, and another Peasant's Crusade way later on. Alex would either have to multi-part, crunch everything down as small as possible, or just pick the better ones, like the first and second.

Saw this episode early on the website, it's really good. Can you guys please make more of these history based episodes in the future? They're really funny and entertaining, and actually makes history seem a lot more interesting than initially thought.

"We were probably in the wrong in the Alamo. I don't know anything about the Alamo, but we were probably the bad guys." Fun Fact: The Texan Revolution was started by wealthy plantation owners who migrated into Texas and refused to give up their slaves when Mexico abolished slavery.
@merric47544 жыл бұрын
It was more that the Mexican government was enforcing abolition and centralization in general on all it's autonomous regions. Texas wasn't the only region to rebel and did so several years after the official abolition of slavery.

We started the war with Mexico on shakey grounds and Lincoln had an unpopular opinion of going against it with his spot resolution. This is an overly simplistic view but that's the jist.

Is this gonna be as accurate as when you talked about the Japanese invasion of Korea back in 1592 and Ming China intervened spreading their communist beliefs in what would eventually become North Korea/South Korea border. You know, 300 years before the guy who thought of communism was even born. This is like the Australia upside down thingy
