Let's Abstract Paint

Here is the lovely channel, SurajFineArts, that inspired me to make this video / @surajfinearts
There are lots of other videos on youtube of this style of painting but over christmas break I was finding myself throwing this channel on and absolutely passing the fuck out to it because it was so r e l a x i n g. I also enjoy people who make content that makes something that seems a little scary (like making art ((DONT LAUGH AT ME ART PEOPLE OKAY YALL WOULD BE SCARED IF I CLOMPED NEXT TO YOU AT 6'11 AND BOWLED YOU UNDER THE TABLE)) seem so accessible to people like me who have absolutely no idea what they are doing or how or where to start. Trying new things is really fun and fulfilling (as you can also see I HAVE BEGUN GROWING THE HOUSEPLANTS, someday maybe I'll give you a plant tour, let me know after you comment "hang it this way" if you'd like to see that someday maybe after their growing season in the spring/summer when they get all luscious and beautiful.). Anyways, it's enjoyable sometimes to just do 32 year old lady things, I appreciate you guys encouraging me to paint and do art even though I'm a little virgo-y at times, a little too much at times, and a little less than confident at times. It means a lot. I'm going to keep trying and maybe someday I'll be an art person with art things surrounded by art so much art I can't even function I'm just swimming in art okay I have to go Kermit is screaming at me because he wants to sit in my lap one of my plants is named Bjork okay bye.

@@gargles5270 Yellow and black absolutely can look sick! Bright yellow against dark black is super vivid and wonderful! It's when the black and yellow mix together that it starts to look off. Black doesn't just darken colours, it de-saturates them, and when you add that much black to yellow, it makes a murky browny colour that is nice, but isn't usually what one is going for.

Julien picks colors that mix together really well, while Jenna picks colors that layer really well, but she layers them when the paint is still wet so they end up mixing and creating a brownish color. I don’t know if she’ll ever see this, but if she decides to paint more, she should wait for her layers to dry before adding another color!

they both have such INTENSE artist brain in such opposite ways and i love how much of a reflection of each other they become while painting. jenna has inner pieces that she can just let explode onto a canvas and they're all stunning while julien can take all his wild energy and focus it down onto a canvas. i think it really shows just how creative jenna is, and how gentle and positive julien is ❤️

I saw this when it was first posted and it (and the link to Suraj Fine Arts) inspired me to start painting. It has been with me through my multiple and widely varied issues that culminated in a diagnosis of thyroid cancer. Flash forward to now and i'm entering my first juried art show and getting my thyroid removed, both this month. Thanks, Jenna and Julien for sharing. It has kept me sane. Thanks Jenna for being an inspiration. I hope you're well. :)
