Today i try and make adsa essentials taste nice. So let's batter the asda essentials burger and fishcakes

Where I come from those fishcakes would be called rissoles, a proper fishcake is fish between 2 slices of potato and battered then deep fried.

@@itskeithnNat oh it is, when I've made it the fish in it is about a third of a fillet and then got a cooled jacket potato sliced and got rid of the skin, then floured and battered. I'm not sure how they do it the chippys but I suppose you could peel and slice the potato then part cook it and cool it before making the fishcake. I used cooked potato as I didn't want to end up with cooked fish and part cooked potato lol.

What I do to save money with these packet mixes is just mix half and half the quantities then put the other half back in the cupboard for next time(I just roll the plastic packet down and seal it with a piece of sellotape). I`ve done this for nearly 3 decades with no probs. 🙂

That batter does look very good, you could try the mars bar in that, and also spam and potatoe slices would also be good. Also, a fresh fish of course, seems like the batter is the standout find in this vid.

I helped a man in a chip shop and found out his frozen jumbo batted sausage was only 15p each and he sold them for £1.50p So your saving a lot if you do it yourself 👍

Make battered home made chips, yum! Sausages are also good along with apples, bananas and pineapple. A great idea to batter the cheaper things, I’ll be giving this a try. It’s hot, but not hot; sounds like me when trying to describe the heat of something. It’s very scientific 😉

Well it's a great idea no doubt about it but I'm sure you could make your own excellent fish cakes because them Asda ones will be made with fish scraps not the best you could batter some pineapple and bananas as well I'm sure Nat would like them.

You could add many thing's to that batter and especially chilli powders or flakes etc etc if your a chilli head....Not had a battered burger for year's so im gonna try do some reaper burgers using that batter 👍

The just Essentials burgers are quite nice compared with other economy burgers. At the end of the day a lot of these budget foods are bought mainly to feed children who don't tend to have the enhanced taste buds of us old gits. when I was a kid in the 80s I can't really remember there being a budget option, it was either the shops own brand or the main brand. I remember having both versions of burgers, I liked both but preferred the taste of the birds eye ones, and these just Essentials burgers taste more like the birds eye ones I used to have.

Hi keith that's a first batter a breaded fish cake lol your as mad as me mate lol thought the sausage was going come out as well or the old spam banana nice pineapple nice my mam use to batter jam buttys she made a jam butty as usual cut the crust off and cut it like soldiers dip them in batter and fry them they look exactly like fishfingers they where gorgeous a think they where called door knockers a dont know why but they was lovely going see if I can make them lol
