My favorite part about Megan as Marilyn is while yes she does do the Marilynisms and acts like Marilyn she also keeps some Megan in their which I think is extremely important when you do a biopic (or biomusical/tv show in this case.) As a director, I would not want to see someone imitate Marilyn word for word, breath for breath I want someone who plays Marilyn, but also merges their own life experiences and their own voice into Marilyn's. I feel that Megan does that perfectly. Did that make any sense or do I sound insane?

Anyone disappointed about her dropping the last note, they just recreated choreography designed for tv where they weren't actually singing and could do multiple takes onstage live. I was shocked to see them recreate it so exactly because even with that last note dropped down, wow is this hard to do especially considering the limited rehearsal time they probably had.

@@camara1194 same thought I had but they didn't do it with Katherine McPhee in Public Relations, since she didn't hit the last note and she dropped it as well. I think that Megan Hilty is great, it wasn't necessary at all to dub her for People's video, honestly.

Amazing ! I think she just took an alternate note because she was out of breathe. Girl that's high!! Better to rock something you know you are going to hit rather than sound lousy

So let's talk about how this choreo doesn't super work for stage and without a camera getting us the angles and moments we needed (especially in her face through the breakdown) or staging that highlights those moments, they get lost really easily. Marilyn's struggle and the build-up of her fading in and out of consciousness and the ensemble having to puppet her, none of it felt like her losing control, just the steps as directed. It all just felt like fan service over a sincere Bombshell concept production.

I mean we all know she can hit that note, so the recording was all her. She was clearly out of breath here and opted for the safer note, which a lot of performers do during live shows. It’s a split decision, and a sign of a seasoned performer to know when and when not to push it. Definitely better than risking any damage to her voice.

Shit happens. Megan can EASILY sing this in concert or studio. This was intense choreo, being thrown around the stage, literally. Give her a break. I was there that night and she absolutely killed.

@@JayyDots she wasn’t pregnant. She gave birth in September 2014 and March 2017. This took place in June 2015, so she wasn’t pregnant.

It was amazing! But she coped out on that last note and so did kat in public relations. Dont get me wrong their amazing but its kinda disapointing cuz ure waiting for that last jaw dropping note

Late response but a lot of the songs recorded for the show were recorded in multiple takes and pieced together (and auto tuned as well) mostly because the songs written, while written for these actresses specifically, are incredibly difficult to sing live, let alone while doing even moderate choreography. This was done purposely to make the role of Marilyn that much more demanding and albeit, seemingly impossible. These and other reasons are why Bombshell is pretty much impossible to turn into a real stage show (that and the fact that half the songs were written for Megan's voice type, and half were written for Katherine's, which were both vastly different).
