The auto battler is only for solo play against the AI, which is essentially just practice mode (most of the time). You can use it to grind out quests the first time, or run a bunch of simulations to see if the deck wins more than loses. That’s why it feels lame to you, because you didn’t play the actual game.

I just downloaded the app. As someone who briefly touched on the full Pokémon card game growing up, it’s been pretty fun starting this game. Packed a few really nice Gen 1 Pokémon and it’s bringing back memories of my physical cards I had back then. Didn’t expect much from a mobile game, but so far so good

I agree. I started to collect pokemon cards this year after not collecting them few years ago, I used to when I was a kid but eventually after getting back into the pokemon franchise it got me in the mood to collect them again. And as I heard about TCG pocket, I had to download it and I have been playing it daily. And what I love about it too is that it’s what helped me learn how to play the card game, even my friends who even started to collect Pokemon cards wanted to learn how to play and they learned by playing TCG pocket. And I think it’s great cuz now anytime my friends wanna come over to my place and hang, we can now play against each other with our psychical cards 😊 Sure TCG pocket may be pretty simple but I still like it. And I do hope that they can add new booster packs other than the charizard pikachu and mewtwo ones.

To the question asked in the end The card in the pack is actually fixed by the time click “open a pack”. Someone has actually proven it by as below: Person A click open a pack, and is still in the pack selection part. Person B opens wonder trade and saw person A result. Person A then opens the pack and found its the same For the slant part, i remember someone saying that its the way you turn it, it doesnt matter much

I been really enjoying it. I never played the tcg game just collected cards irl. This makes deck building and battling with your cards so much easier. I haven't spent any money on it and I got enough cards to make 4 different decks that i like playing with. I have to say as of right now, battling isn't really much as skilled base more as just getting lucky when battling. I feel this app is gonna be amazing in the next coming months.

I feel like its the point of pocket for it to be more rng based tbh, there is 20 cards in a deck if there was a card like pidgeot ex, buddy buddy puffin,net ball (which is pretty much staples like in the current meta in PTCG) it would be way too broken because they can choose card to draw from the deck. Im honestly interested on how they handle it in pocket

The only complaints i have so far is that i think you should be able to open more than 2 packs a day, and that the subscription doesnt feel worth it. Especially when more sets of packs come out, only 2 free packs a day wouldn't be worth it imo

@Jeremy-bt8lo15 күн бұрын
The subscription needs to be a multiplier by x2 instead of one extra. If paying $10 a month is something they want majority of players to do, making it so that every 12 hours players get too open two packs instead of one will clearly show that your playing at twice the progress of a free to play player. That you will get 4 packs a day instead of just 3, which makes me iffy and not really wanting to buy the membership because it just doesn’t seem too worth the price to stick with it forever yk

The game only got me interested for about 1 week. The gameplay format is almost 100% luck based and then if you have got the beat cards. And there's no advantage for going first. It's better to start 2nd. You get to attack first.
@vitalepitts13 күн бұрын
Incorrect, going first allows you to evolve first and supporters like Misty can cheat energy on your first turn. Articuno deck, dragonite deck, and Koga deck prefer going first and other decks have good turn one plays, like evolving to rapidash on your first attacking turn in a blaine deck. I'd say it's 80-20 luck to skill, ignoring the skill in deckbuilding to begin with.

Ive been having a lot of fun so far, I haven’t spent any money but I got the premium trial. The first couple events seem like they’re moving in the right direction, I just hope they plan to keep adding new things consistently because as is I feel like the game moves a bit slowly. It takes a lot of packs to get the cards for a playable deck. We need replay-able content that gives hourglasses, so that we can spend time actually playing the game and still progressing. The tier battles are good, but after you finish them you are severely limited with hourglasses and it kinda feels like a waste to spend more time playing.
@jaceladag14 күн бұрын
About a month or so ago I began getting really into digital TCGs, mostly Yu-Gi-Oh! since that is what I had mostly played as a kid. I had played some of the Pokémon TCG but something about the game back then didn't click with me and my Pokémon card collection was never as big as my Pokémon collection. But between the one free pack TCG online and the way in which the streamlining of the TCG works for Pocket and the fact it's a format with a much more limited card pool than Yu-Gi-Oh's incredibly daunting thousands of cards stretching back 25 years of history all of which are still legal... Yeah, been enjoying this one a lot more. And presumably further down the line like the actual TCG this game is going to have some form of rotation and that will always keep the game fresh.
@lvl5Vaporeon16 күн бұрын
What I like the most about this game is that you do get a generous helping of packs and hourglasses early on. You can EASILY grab 20 packs after a few days doing the challenges.If you hate your pulls, you can easily reroll. Do this if you want to start strong. If you see people go "It's just EX spam"; you should use your brain and devise using darkness or fighting pokemon to counter them. Sandslash and Arbok are fairly good cards that can be used. You could even just set up a private lobby and play your friends under house rules. The real gripe I have is this supporter card called Misty. Her card can target a water pokemon for and give energy equal to the amount of repeated heads flips (until you land tails). You can play this turn one and potentially attack instantly (Why!?)with an articuno GX; destroying the balance of the game. You will have to spend time actually building decks. Some cards are essential (sabrina/giovanni) others are essential for a type (erika/misty/blaine). I suggest spending some time essentially labbing against the gardevoir/ mewtwo ex to see what you're up against in pvp. It will be a climb. It will test your patience, but it aint pay to win (yet). Skillful play is here. Dont rush into the game because you wont enjoy it.
@Fleepwn16 күн бұрын
People are very quickly falling into the meta slavery of card games, which is I guess due to the game coming out in 2020's when that's the common mindset to have about the genre. It's just weird to see, considering it's a lot more casual game than a lot of the others. And actually a pretty well balanced so far, if we overlook the coin flipping mechanic, which at least to me feels like a strange way to balance out some powerful effects, but at least it's done in a fun way if nothing else. The game is free and PvP is not the focus. People can just jump in, collect some cards, never even play a match, maybe just build a deck or display a collection, and log out and still have fun.
@joeman12396416 күн бұрын
i mean the game itself is basically 40% skill 60% RNG a lot of attacks and abilities are coin tosses. not to mention you can mostly determine victory or defeat within the first 2 turns based on your initial hand. odd how hey don't use a mulligan turn like yu gi oh and other ganes uses to do. you can do a new hand and shuffle if your current isn't good. (i had where i only had 1 basic mon and drew nothing and lost lol)
@andystar2215 күн бұрын
Misty is a pain because even getting just 1 energy with her is incredibly strong but you dont actually need her to payout with a water deck. the water deck i run has a bunch of units to stall and then two articuno ex and 1 lapras ex. i have a strat to win with it even if both my mistys give 0 energy so if they payout i usually get a early overwhelming advantage. water and electric are the only two decks that can sweep really early. water can with a early misty with a 2 or 3 payout and electric can with a full hand of basics and pika ex. water is just the only one that can occasionally turn 1 end a battle.
@animalchin508215 күн бұрын
@@joeman123964 they circumvent the Mulligan by having you always draw at least 1 basic but yeah you can sadly still brick. Sometimes game really come down to the coin toss but much of the skill expression comes from setting yourself up not to lose to their lucky flip, their Sabrina or you drawing the wrong top deck. I recommend the Blaine deck if you want a fairly consistent deck without flips that pressures like crazy.

When new sets release theyll add more pve missions that will give you resources to get extra packs. It wont be anywhere near as generous as when you first start but im guessing youll get enough for an extra 10 to 20 packs each set. So between the initial new rewards each set plus the 2 packs a day for free, f2p players will get around 200 packs per major set (from what ive read theyre releasing 1 major set each quarter ie every 3 months with a mini set in between (so every 6 weeks). Plus therell be more events released as well, similar to the wonder pick and pvp ones that are live atm, which will also give additional resources as well as promo cards. Like the current pvp event gives you Lapras EX, which is a soild replacement for Articuno EX if tou havent opened it yet, plus an alt version of Mankey which actually makes it better as the promo version injures itself which allows the evolved version, Primape, to come out swinging at max damage. Imo between the free packs, the pack points you get which allows you to buy specific cards from the shop and trading (when its finally added) moat f2p players will be able to complete most base sets. P2p players will be more about collecting the higher rarity alt art cards like the immersive ones and the crown rares which are finctionallly the same as tbe base cards but just harder to pull. Also they have God packs in the game, the rates suck (0.05%) but its still a nice add imo.

The auto deck building aspect of the game will not optimize your deck build on a competitive level, so if you're aiming to play the battles competitively, you're still going to have to brew up the deck yourself. IMO, both the Auto Battle and Auto Deck Building aspects of the game are mainly for the collectors since they'd still want to get the rewards from the Solo Battles. But even then, I'd imagine that it'll be difficult to clear all the quests in the more difficult levels of Solo Battles if you purely do Auto Battles.

I personally love the auto build and auto battle features. Giving an example, I'll be looking through battle missions and one tells me to beat it with a deck from a type I don't use regularly. I'm also about to cook a meal. I auto build the deck, have it auto battle, then when it loses and I have a two second break make it auto battle again and win the challenge while multitasking around the house. Can't tell you how nice it is to have a game you're invested in be able to play itself when I'm busy getting ready for work or something. Then when I have a day off I can reap the rewards of all that auto battling and use a personally constructed deck with cards I earned from all those days when I could only half play the game and challenge someone online.

I'm at lvl 17 and I guess I can say I'm getting hooked. I'm not paying though, and have not play mobile games in years. But it's disappointing for the most part though. Like you save up so much wonder picks and spend three hoping to get that rare one but end up getting a diamond Pokemon that you've have already like seven of. And like others have mentioned, the packs are decided already the moment you clicked on it. Like in the first few days I was actually swiping to bet on a pack will be good and in those first few days I actually did get some good ones, but the last few days has been shet. And knowing they've decided your fate on those packs already, I lost hope when I open now. Just hurry and open the trade so we could trade around already. Add, also allowing only five claims from friends you've battle with, serious? To slow you down on purpose.

I think it’s an okay start to a game. I don’t think there is going to be a point to trading unless they add a set of new packs alongside it since everyone is going to have roughly the same cards by the time it’s implemented. As of right now, the battles are not that fun. There aren’t enough cards to diversify decks and going first is just a waste of time, especially if you’re trying to complete the “win within X turns” missions. Like, at least let the person going first attach an energy. I’d rather be denied my first draw and not be able to attack first turn than not be able to attach energy, because then I could at least do something other than play trainers and pass.

honestly not a fan of pocket so far, I'm at the point where my daily packs are just giving me dupes of stuff I already have and won't ever use in pvp, and its only like once a week or so i open something new. On top of that, I'm really not a fan of the battling for how bad going first feels since for whatever reason they decided to change the tcg rules from disallowing the 1st player to use Supporters to disallowing them from attaching. With all the current 'meta' decks usually revolving around pokemon with super cheap energy costs like pikachu ex and staryu ex, going first feels like it forces you to fight an uphill battle where unless you're playing something that can ramp energy in some way to make up for it (like Misty flips, Gardevoir or Magneton+Surge+Raichu), you just have a much harder time keeping up. At least TCG is staying its' own distinct thing that I can play instead

I wish it was the full TCG... I only downloaded it at the behest of my younger brother, and it was fun, but after the initial novelty wore off... I could've sworn Pokemon had 5 bench spots. So I looked it up, and there's actually a bit that was cut. So now I'm a little disappointed that you can't hold energy in your hand, and you have fewer bench slots. Prize cards being replaced by generic points is something I don't have an opinion on, but 3-point battles just feel too short to me (especially paired with only 3-slot benches). Somehow, despite having only 20 cards... It almost feels more reliant on luck than I feel it otherwise would. Like energy! If you aren't playing a mono-color deck, you're just screwed when it comes to energy... You have to rely on total RNG to get the right energy. At least in the TCG (to my understanding), you can just hold on to multiple energies without it just fizzling out... And with more than 1 to choose from, more chance you get the color you need instead of merely being out of luck. That's my problem. Collecting the cards is neat, though.

Also tried out Pokemon TCG Live, and honestly it seemed to boil down to a bunch of cards to find pokemon, draw cards etc etc. This game, to me, more so takes out the tedious elements of the TCG, more than simplify it. It just highlights that the TCG isn't complicated, it just has a lot of busy work.

With each passing day I have more and more issues with the app. Levelling up is impossible, battles are infuriating because people who spend money just rampage through everyone else, you get packs so painfully slowly, Wonder Pick stamina and Event Battle stamina is insultingly slow, and I worry about how new packs will be added in the future. There is some very cute art in this game. But it is also extremely frustrating, between having no matchmaking, unfair stamina, and regular Gacha luck, and for that, I don't think the app is going anywhere unless it gets seriously overhauled.

Here's the honest truth: the game is shit. It's a whale trap with AWFUL tcg mechanics. Going first is such a huge disadvantage that literally the only thing you can do is play basics and items; you can't even attach an energy, putting you behind in energy AND damage right off the bat. The cards you get are fixed before you even choose a pack, and there are some absolutely powercrept BS cards that if you don't get lucky with your pulls, you either need to spend money or create another account to have even a hope of winning a game in the big basic meta. The heavy reliance on luck rather than skill and proper deckbuilding makes this EASILY the worst tcg app on the market.

the auto battle is for the solo game only and i found its useful for the promo event thare are no Consequences for losing you dont loose stanama so find i deck that works tun on auto battle to gind for the random drop promo packs the other new event has you grind for wins for emblems Basically trophies that you can display on your app profile that are trophies that you can display on your Avatar profile As a way to show off how many wins you have is itresting thing tho so still no Consequences for loosing and that breaks the game thares a card called misty and in this vr of the game being first is a big disavantage you cant attach energy but you can play suporters 1st turn misty can have u flip a coin and attach energy for as many heads you get its completly broken get a hard hitting water pokemon win the coin flip and win 1st turn or less and thare is no Consequences for loosing so just Concede the battle early to grind out the wins

3:44 I guess you didn't play the AI battle there is rewards for quest/ missions on the top right side, if you met the requirement. Even if you have the auto battle on you can still get the rewards.

Its fun so far but defo needs more, more content, rewards, incentives, etc.

Auto battle only works against bots. You can't use it against real people. It's basically there to help get through the tedium of really easy games that you don't need to think about because the bots aren't very good.

in my oppinion i prefere the pokemom tcg live, the gameplay its closer to the original tcg and has lots more cards.

I’m a collector at heart, and I’ve been trying this app for a couple weeks and I’ve kind of lost interest in it. Pulled a few good art cards, just just isn’t the same as pulling a physical Moonbreon and having it physically.

I thin the purpose of bent corners is just to allow these theories to exist and the placebo effect. Actually just like the whole carrousel thing, but this is a smaller detail. Superstitious people might still believe in it

If only you were this honest about the quality or lack there of, of the mainline games they’ve been releasing, I mean say what you want about this basic card game, at least it looks and plays well, unlike Pokémon Scarlet and Violet lol

If you’re even a mediocre player you won’t want to auto battle because the AI will lose for you and it’s terrible. I used it once and never again. So bad.

All the profits they make from pokemon pocket need to go into the mainline games and their hardware cause nintendo is way behind

3:36 the downside that the ai SUCKS! it can barley beat an intermediate battle let alone a expert so that is one terrible thing about it

This game is a hardcore F2P buster. Statistically impossible coin flips are extremely common. If you’re a truly free player, you will soon start having the worst opening draws you can imagine. Even after reformulating the deck, it immediately draws the worst hands ever. Somehow, 90% of the games, 2 research, 2 pokeballs, and evolutions won’t show up until turn 3-5. The game is already lost without a chance by then. It got so bad that I couldn’t even test new decks. I ran a frostmoth/wigglytough ex deck and my opponent flipped 5 heads in a row to wake up. Not a single sleep stuck by the time he won. For anyone thinking it’s a “skill issue”, I have every solo challenge completed (all expert solo 3 diamond deck wins and weakness deck wins). The reason a game would manipulate free player RNG is to increase their bottom line. Why would a game ever want a player who’s not actively giving them money to take space on their servers? They don’t have any incentive to keep free players playing. In fact, it benefits them to kick the freeloaders off the servers to minimize load and maintenance over time. Think like a company and tell me I’m wrong. This game is horrible.
