Your last sentence is the absolute thing I am very scared of happening. People that say that this won’t effect us as bad or it’s better to get rid of net neutrality better think again. There is more at stake here if he really lose this. The number one thing I fear is the economy taking a hit and again and again. This proposal that fucking Pie want’s to pass will hurt everyone even big websites like Facebook as an example. How will Facebook as an example would be able to make money if more people than ever cannot afford the internet? Then you will have even more people cancel because they just won’t be able to afford it anymore. I’m pretty sure that Mark doesn’t want to lose money. If I was in his shoes I would be very worried how again this would effect Facebook. I seriously hope that if we keep piling enough pressure and the big Verizon protest on December 7th will finally open Congress eye’s and stop the FCC from voting. If not then this will probably be immediately taken to court and hopefully stuck down there:)

Pokemon Trainer Blue I was using sjw's and LGBT as an example to make a point. I already know everything about NN, probably more than both of you combined. What's irrelevant is you explaining "the fight we're all united in" because it has absolutely nothing to do with my original comment. Nobody can use their brain these days.

Smegma that’s the downright most stupid response you could’ve came up with. We replied to you that way because your original comment has absolutely nothing to do with what the op said. It was straight nonsense which my reply called out. The fact that you don’t understand that is actually shocking. NEUTRAL INTERNET! I read a great book a few years ago called 'The Master Switch' that was essentially the history of electronic communications from the telegraph to the internet. By the end of the book it was obvious that all these mediums start off open and end up being closed. If history is any indication of what's to come then net neutrality will not last. My problem is that it isn't merit based, never was. If we are going to be a corporation then make it a worker-owned, democratically governed corporation.

Good luck. Gorsuch, I LOVE CORPORATIONS, is now on the bench. This country is bought. It will only get worse until baby boomers all die off. The greatest generation raised the worst generation. Their motto became: "Gain wealth, forgetting all but self."
@thehypnotoad38697 жыл бұрын
Anonymous DueToFascists - that motto has been in effect since the first tribe chose someone to lead them. typically it was a "holy man". an arbiter to the gods. the ones in charge sought to capitalize on their position, that seems to be human nature.
@thunderpooch7 жыл бұрын
The gain wealth, forgetting all but self motto takes root in large populations where people think they can exploit others or outsiders. It is often peddled by the leaders of a financial system for everyone to keep trying to scam one another. The idea is that the more wealth inequality rises and the more no cares about their neighbor, the more money will flow to the financiers creating the credit chase game. When small groups break down and large groups take root, you become more ok with fucking people over for gain. Take their money, take their land, pollute their water, kill the enemy, etc. See deregulated capitalism or anywhere fractional reserve banking has propped up as examples of this behavior.

Oh my, so silly and naive. Shame shame shame. They once were, but as always, big business colludes together. Have you noticed, they aren't saying much about the end of net neutrality. The ISP's are working out deals with all the large capitalized corporations. They will unite and crush everybody else. Google, Amazon, Netflix, and FaceBag will all work out a sweet little deal, don't be foolish. This is the natural tendency of capitalism. The big boys all work together and create an illusion of competition and conflict. Then they crush everybody else. Those big 4 will have super high speed lanes. Everything else will slow to a snail's pace and they'll make you pay through the teeth. It's essentially a way for the ISP's to strengthen the big 4 and screw everyone else.

The FTC doesn't want Title II removed, which they've said, because they know they don't have the legal authority to enforce any rules in court at the FTC, which again, the FTC has said themselves; afaik the FTC can only fine the ISP's for non-compliance, which wouldn't deter them as it would be pennies compared to the profits. That is the whole reason the FCC moved the internet to Title II, because when it was Title I, the ISP's won in court when suing the FCC to claim that ISP's can whatever they want. The judge advised the FCC to reclassify the internet to Title II, and then they would be able to enforce Net Neutrality in court. How do people forget this?

If someone were to commit suicide because of Net Neutrality being demolished, and that person committed suicide because he/she depended on the Internet to stay happy, even though they are feeling suicidal, but they are getting help on the internet by others, could that be an offense against the FCC?

They need to get rid of the FCC and move the entire department as a committee that either senators or congressmen sit on and then we can repeal their asses if they do s*** like this

I'm not mad that I'll have to pay more for different services. I'm mad that internet providers can now slow down the news services that they don't agree with, allowing them to censor what they don't like.

There is one way to fix this...stop using the internet. If we stop using it then our internet providers will make less money. No one is probably going to really do this.

Even though people have the power to force corporations to behave by boycotting, I don't have hope that people will exercise that power to rescue the Internet after net neutrality dies because they're usually too lazy. Oh well.

Let's be real: Resignation is not a recognition of an inevitable reality, nor is it an effective tool for effecting change. It's just giving up. Ajit Rai is going to do what he's going to do, but he's not the end of the road, so lets talk next steps. Let's talk about calling your congressional representatives, let's talk about identifying representatives who are opposed to net neutrality and what we can do to vote them out of office in 2018. The FCC only has this power because of congressional inaction, and we can always pressure them to act. Let's be real, the net as we know it is in danger, we're exhausted from everything, but now is not the time to give up.

Do we need these carriers? Can't we set up our own servers across the country? Do we not still have the power of the masses by having everyone do some sort of scare tactic towards these monopolies? Fear factor as in not logging on for a weekend or something as such?

karrasue yes you can make up your own internet and become your own ISP. Look it up online they'll go step by step.
@daolong512797 жыл бұрын
karrasue problem is the infrastructure. The ISPs own the transmission lines. You would need to lay hundreds of thousands of miles of fiber optic plus build transmission stations just for a minimal backbone.

@MCNinja38TR16 жыл бұрын
I believe regulation laws can be taken to the supreme court, and eventually will work towards the "unfair competition" if I'm not mistaken. What needs to happen is if this throttling occurs, then users can complain to the provider companies, and force someone to file a lawsuit, and get net neutrality rules passed again.

I don't think these companies will start charging more out of the blue, they will try to hide it and some will fall for it. I'm sick of these companies overcharging for internet and phone service. If you feel that way to don't agree to anything to those door to door and phone salesmen until you read the whole contract and do the math to chose any plan.
