Let's Call This "The Poisoned Queen Variation"

Queen sacrifice in the opening is a rare "phenomenon" but magic happens. In this video I am covering a game played between Robert Brieger and Joaquin Camarena where in Nimzowitsch defense, on move 5 white goes for a spectacular queen sacrifice after which pulls out a brilliant attack. Although by giving back the queen black is dragging white into the endgame but soon more tactical shots follow, white wins more pawns and then even mates black king. A game worth of seeing!

In the mid 70’s I played Robert Brieger many times at a Houston chess club. He was always challenging players with puzzles and one of his hallmark setups for black: e4, e5, Nf3, Qe7! The real issue trying to beat it. He would play it against anyone, masters, experts, and win far more than lose.
