"I look like a toe" made me laugh so hard. You always look nice to me. I LOVE how real you are, it is so refreshing. One thing upsetting to me lately is the new obsession and reversion back to celebs wanting to be stick thin again. We've come so far with being healthy thin and having curves being seen as beautiful it's weird to see celebs get SO so thin like khloe, kim and arianna grande. It is not just their body type because they were never like this before. Hope you have a nice time at work, that sounds super stressful, it takes me like a few days to complete an essay lol. My heart rate is the same from years of yoga/exercise, even with intense exercise my hr doesn't get above 120-130.

I appreciate the lovely comment. I do, however, still think I look like a to 9/10 but nice to hear people think otherwise. I also have noticed this new obsession about wanting to be thin again and it f**cking sucks... As you said, we have come so far and turning back is so upsetting! The work assignment went well and I got the story up on time so all is good! Have a nice week ❤️

I enjoy listening to you. I understand the loneliness and need for connection ❤ I think the gym talk makes complete sense in that way. We all need others to a greater or lesser degree. I can relate to the ‘funk’. Minute, hour, day at a time is how I try to cope with that. I found some good emotional yoga type groups - not ED related - more let’s be real together and they have been in some small ways life changing/affirming. I think you would be a wonderful fit in something like that. No need to reply to comment if you don’t feel able to I will still watch. Virtual hug and care sent your way xxx

I do like the authenticity of these videos. Also, your mindset around exercise is awesome: exercising to move your body, not to burn calories. How did your zoo trip go??? If you feel the need to take a break on KZbin, please do. I don’t want you to keep doing these videos if they add more stress to your life. Also, if you find yourself needing a break during the day, instead of scrolling through social media, check out this show called the Chosen. It won’t disappoint 😜 lots of hugs!

OK so - You should set up a crowd fund for Everest base-camp. No it is not narcissistic. You are trying to evolve and grow beyond your ED and this is a perfect way to do just that. You should 100% chase your dreams. In answer to your other question - I personally enjoy your videos as we are in similar places atm and it helps to see how you deal with it. I also think that it is good for you as it prompting you to extrovert your thinking which helps to promote internal - external cohesion. Sometimes we do do not realise we think a certain way until we hear ourselves say it out loud. Keep talking Maddie, your voice is valuable. This channel helps me a lot. I appreciate you x

I love your videos. They are real. They are honest. They validate that most youtube channels are a "show". A show I can't and don't want to live up to. You may need to really think about a new pet. Not to replace Fig. But because they take you out of your head a bit and are so much company and love. Yeah I know. Too soon.

Hi Maddie, re: GoFundMe and Everest base camp - I really liked the idea you shared previously ie: From Anorexia to Everest. That's a story that I think might connect with those people in recovery. I see the parallels between ED recovery and hiking to Everest base camp. Perhaps if you could get the funding to go - (other) people could sponsor you and your steps and you could donate those sponsored funds to an ED charity in Canada. Just thinking out lout here. On another topic - you showing up as you are. I really appreciate your honesty and you being real.

Hi Maddie! I just wanted to let you know that you have been an extraordinarily huge inspiration in my own eating disorder recovery journey. Seeing how genuine and honest you are has been so helpful for me in contrast with other recovery KZbinrs who are sunshine and rainbows 24/7. I hope you know that you are making a positive difference in the world with your "rambles" :) I've been here since the beginning and it's been so motivating watching you come so far. Life isn't easy and being an adult is exasperating at times and yet you haven't resorted back to your ED which I think is incredible and gives me hope that it IS possible to move on and find a life beyond this illness. It doesn't mean life is going to suddenly be perfect, but not being controlled by an ED is something magical in itself. You're doing better than you think. And I don't think it's selfish at all to fundraise money for your trip if that's what your heart is set on! I say go for it :) I'd happily contribute

I’ve never really struggled with compulsive exercise in my ED but I just want to reassure you that I haven’t done any ‘overt’ sport in 4 years (other than light yoga 2x a week and max half - 1 hour walks a day) bc it would be counterproductive to what I need to do most for my health (ie. gain weight) and I haven’t ‘blown up’ or gained a substantial amount of weight despite following a mealplan suggested by a dietitian. You will be fine 🙏🏼 in fact your body will probably thank you for it I understand that exercise makes you feel good but doing it 5-6x a week does sound a bit excessive.. maybe cutting it down to 3x could be a manageable goal to work towards? It’s also important to make time for other interests and maybe that would allow you to make friends and do other social activities like go to a museum etc 😊 Not that there’s anything wrong with doing those things alone, but you seem to spend a lot of your time alone already..
@maddiejaneec
@maddiejaneec 2 жыл бұрын
It's nice to hear that reducing exercise will not cause someone to "blow up". I do, however, enjoy going to the gym for the social aspect but know I need to watch myself and ensure I am going for the right reasons. I do implement rest days and am focusing on getting stronger as opposed to losing weight. 5-6 times a week is a lot but it's a mix of strength, balance and other forms of resistance work. I have been thinking about getting back into personal photography and trying to spend more time outside before it gets too cold! Thank you for the comment ❤️

I always go back n forth on this when it comes to these trips. I know of other people who do fundraisers for these, so you wouldn't be alone. On the other hand, I always think, is this really a good cause or there is better place for the money. It's also a privileged position to have a big fan base that would pay for your trip. There are others with similar dreams but different resources/connections. I think searching for corporate sponsors is a better idea, like reaching out to backpacking gear and travel gear companies, insurance companies and things like that. Maybe even through your work you could make some connections. It feels better than asking your fans. Your fans would gladly give, and possibly I would too. But I also know sometimes fans take away the money they need just to sponsor someone they love OR they could just donate to an organization, good cause, or to a refugee family or whatever that would honestly make more difference. I hope you don't take this the wrong way. I think it's a great goal and I really think you could find some corporate sponsors to help you with this, I've seen many examples of this before. And you already have the proof that you write about these things + have your small community here, you are not some random person asking for the money.

I appreciate the comment, thank you. Ideally, I would love to be able to have my work sponsor me but I am not sure if I am experienced enough for them to go for it. I know a lot of others have said this but the gym 5 times a week is a lot for someone just getting back into during recovery and it seems like you’re in denial about your reasoning. Being anxious about not being able yo go to the gym tomorrow is a bad sign considering you’re biggest problem during recovery was stopping the compulsive exercise. Hopefully we’re wrong but I would reconsider how much you’re working out and why and maybe consider a regular therapist you seem to have a very negative thought process. Side note as much as we love your videos you seem to hate filming now and doubt yourself through every video. If KZbin isn’t something that fits your life anymore there’s no pressure to stay but we’d miss you 🥺❤

Hi Briana, thank you for the comment. I realize that going to the gym five or six times a week sounds like a lot, and I agree, it is, but I am being careful about it. The way this gym is set up is unlike an ordinary gym where you do whatever you want. They are structured, 50-minute classes that hit a different aspect every day. Some days are just about balance whereas others are legs, arms etc. it really is a lovely community and I am more so going for the people as opposed to the workout. I appreciate the concern though. I don’t mind doing these types of super raw videos and do enjoy this KZbin community. Thank you for your support - take care!

I don’t think it’s selfish at all for you to start a go fund me for Mount Everest and here’s why. I was born with cerebral palsy. I can’t do it. The fact that I can’t afford it doesn’t change that I can’t go. You can go. If you write a story about it, you will share your experience with people who can’t go. Your writing is as close as I’ll ever get to going. Also writing a memoir about your experience with your ED and getting to a place to climb Everest shows people that overcoming an ED is worth it. I know I spent a lot of time wondering if recovering was worth it. I think everyone can recover. I don’t think that everybody will. There’s a lot of challenges that come with recovery and a lot of safety that comes with being sick. Also climbing Everest is one of your goals and that’s awesome. Just because you aren’t wealthy doesn’t mean that you don’t deserve to reach that goal. I think you are feeling guilty about asking for money and you shouldn’t. Nobody has to donate to you. If you ask for donations, you are giving people the opportunity who want to donate to you the option. If you don’t decide to fundraise, I don’t get the option to donate to you. You have a social media following and you are a journalist. You have a big reach, and I do think climbing Everest is a very reasonable goal for you. You started documenting your recovery journey really sick in your room and made it out of that dark place. Please finish what you started and physically climb the mountain.

Now that I have been thinking non-stop about it I know it is something I need to do and I am so grateful that it is something that is possible for me. I actually can't express how much your comment impacted me, I even read it out loud to my mom as we were talking about whether or not this trip is even feasible.
