I framed my entire basement walls with the M12 Fuel Impact ... unbelievable the power from such a small lightweight tool.

Great video, was fun :) I have the M12 impact, regular and it does drive, but it just does not have the torque. Like 3" deck screws, it drives them, but takes a while, doesn't stop, but it's slow. Use my Makita sub compact impact and the screw goes in fast. Huge difference. The M12 is useful and one I use often, but it sure has it's limits.

Good video. Thanks 😊 A bit off topic with this question.... What do you think of the Festool special edition set that just released with a metric version and a imperial version. Each has a adjustable wrench, and several ratcheting open end box end wrenches and several nut drivers and bit drivers. What do you think of each kit and what would YOU use them for? Asking for a friend! 😊
@MillisConstruction4 жыл бұрын
I would be all over it if I wasn’t so invested in Wera and Wiha! The Joker Wrenches are my favorites ever, I would just make an insert and build it out with those brands if it was me. It’s quite possible that they’re the makers of the Festool versions in those sets too 😉
@ronh93844 жыл бұрын
@@MillisConstruction Yeah they do look like Wera. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make them.....

More than tool review, I really found your video entertaining. Can’t describe why, just like why festool feels better. Subbed! I am all into Dewalt 20V and FlexVolt 60V. Recently, I started adding Festool. I have been eyeing on the PDC 18 + TID 18 set. Just the drill set is $549. With another $50, you also get driver. From a pure $ value, I think its worth it. But whether I need a new impact since my Dewalt works well is the question and the answer I got from your video (just like any other festool) is the feel of using it.

I work construction full time - same type of stuff as Millis here. There is rarely a need for an impact as a drill is almost always a better driver. And as far as framing goes (someone else mentioned it) never use screws, use nails.

I use a Dewalt 10.8v 1.5amp as my everyday carry, it’s tiny, super light and powerful enough for 99% of what I do daily.

I wonder why he never tries the m18 platform or the fuel?
@MillisConstruction3 жыл бұрын
I’ve been way too deep in the Dewalt 20v line to want to add an entire new platform like the M18. The Dewalt 12v line is too limiting so I went with Milwaukee Fuel for all my 12v tools now.

Where is the Makita entry into the mix? I have the Makita small compact and it outdrives everything else I own!! But it is really loud. Battery life is excellent with it. Of these three, my choice is the Festool. And it comes with a 3 year warranty. I bet the ergonomics are slightly better, which is why it feels better to you.

Is it me or was that dewalt impact driver only on speed setting 2 and not 3? Dewalt impact on 3 should drive harder and faster than it did!

Love my M12s...what it looks like is that the Festool was a much more pleasant experience than the DeWalt. Think about using one or the other all day, Festool would probably win hands down? Interesting vid - thanks.
@MillisConstruction3 жыл бұрын
That’s been my exact experience for sure. The M12 and the Festool see about all the action now and my 2-3 Dewalt are almost non users now although they do have plenty power and work just fine. The low price point that Festool put this impact release at really helps it be competitive. Lot of people are trying it that apparently don’t have very much other Festool. Thanks for watching!

Well done and interesting. Aww, the much maligned DeWalt 887, if that is the model you used here? So, it’s a little rough, a little noisy, and a little ‘warm!’ It gets the job done, and will hammer in most fasteners within reason. Festool is smooth, but should be for the price. The M12 and the M18 Surge are a little under appreciated as well. I’m not too familiar with the M12, but own and use the M18 Surge, and use it whenever indoors, or need smooth easy to control power. Take care and stay safe! Peace 🙏👍😁🇺🇸🎃

I have the dewalt in this video and one that is a lower spec but still brushless, got them because all my kit is dewalt and the only thing that lets it down is that there is a bit of wobble, it does the job and it’s cheap over here ( live in the uk) would buy the festool if it was priced the same as it is in North America, Festool here you are looking at about 1000 dollars for the impact with 2 batteries
@MillisConstruction3 жыл бұрын
Wow!!!! That is incredible. The Festool impact was released at such a low price here it has become a lot of people’s first festool. Kind of like their around $100 sander they released a couple years ago here too
@fabioferreira21863 жыл бұрын
@@MillisConstruction I guess people that work in the trade as joiners here still buy it, its a shame because their tools are very good but at the cost of a single tool you can buy a 6 piece kit of dewalt makita or milwaukee

Because, as I stated in the video, I only grabbed it just to see if it could as it’s a 12v and irrelevant to a 20v tool.
