We checked out the pricing of eggs at our local Target, Aldi, Walmart, Meijer and Kroger.
Note that we are in the state of Indiana and prices may vary depending on your location.

We got a dozen eggs in St Charles, Mo, just ourside St Louis County, for 2.99 a dozen last week. We got them at Ruler, they are like an Aldis for Kroger. We are going to start freezing eggs too!

I was watching an episode of I Love Lucy, "Lucy Raises Chickens". In the episode it was mentioned that eggs are 75 cents a dozen. The episode was filmed in 1957. Keeping with inflation, eggs should cost $8.36.

Hi Steve and Peg, I am in SE MI and shop mostly at Meijer. I paid 4.33 last week for a dozen eggs. I have a friend in Vegas who said eggs are $10 a dozen there. I heard when the prices start going up to to the tarries, eggs will go up another 25%! Yikes! Please keep us updated!❤️

I have a subscription for eggs from a local farmer. I paid $390 for a dozen eggs per week for 1 year. Outside of the egg subscription my farmer is selling his eggs for $9 a dozen plus you have to make a $25 purchase per dozen eggs.

Grand Junction Colorado I paid 7 dollars for a dozen small. This was at a Kroger store.

Friday I picked up a dozen organic eggs at Walmart for $6.12 and since Ibotta is giving a $2.50 rebate every Friday in the month of Feb. it came out to $3.62. I will be picking up a dozen every Friday for my account and my husband's account. I did not see a sign with any limits. Eggs at Costco for a 18 count were $7.69 with a limit of 3. I live in New Hope, MN.

I've started buying 18 count cartons and buying less often. They're good for 2-3 weeks at home in the fridge. It seems to be easier finding the 18 counts, maybe people don't want so many eggs at once.

I live in Columbia, SC. I purchased 18 ct eggs at my local Walmart 2/5/25 for $6.16, no 12 ct eggs available, no limit. Today those same 18 ct eggs at Walmart are $9.02!!! That is a 46% increase in price in just 4 days! I remember about 10 years ago when Kroger sold 12 ct eggs at Easter for just 39 cents! We will never see that again! Love all your videos!

I would say Meyer and Kroger are Indiana only. In my part of Iowa we have Hyvee or Walmart or aldi. I can’t hyvee prices but it’s high.

What about Costco? A few weeks ago, they were under $4/dz in NE Ohio. There weren't a lot of cartons. I can't remember if there was a limit.

I live in Malta Ohio. 1 dozen of eggs at Kroger is 4.99. Walmart is 5.46. In Drake County Ohio over the weekend a fire killed 200000 chickens at a commercial chicken farm. Hopefully, that doesn't cause higher prices because they raised them to sale as eggs layers

I recently paid $8.24 *($4.12/ dozen)* for 24 Eggs at Sam's Club in Boardman, Ohio.. That's the cheapest price that I know of in my area. Meijer - down the street from my Apartment is higher than Sam's. I eat eggs every day for breakfast and do use a lot of them.

Why is there a shortage of eggs, but plenty of chicken even BOGO sales?

I follow a YT couple who manage a chicken farm. They have explained that chickens raised for eating do not lay eggs. The baby chicks come to them & 6 wks later they head straight to the processing plants to end up on our grocery shelves for eating. So it sounds like the chickens raised for eating are not the same as chickens raised to lay eggs.

There isn’t a shortage of all eggs Richard, just the cheap eggs. Brown pasteurized eggs are plentiful but costs a few bucks more, so they are never mentioned here.

I live in northern California, and our eggs are crazy expensive. One dozen on average is $10, and 18 count is $12 to $14. Costco is around $5 for 24 count if they have them.
