Best music and sound effects award goes to the NES hands down.

+Dan No way, the best tune is the one you hear right at the beginning of the C64 section, before the gameplay starts.

Sega mark III / Master system with FM sound is better visually and graphically. I have both.
@AltairEgo13 жыл бұрын
Agreed. On a technical level, the arcade version and Mark 3 are obviously above it. But NES's use of colors and music just seem more appealing. Mark 3's dark green backgrounds seem garish.

God, this was a great game (on the NES, anyway)!t took me four years to finish it. I remember having drawn detailed maps of every room on recycled notebook paper; you know, the kind that looked like it still had chunks of wood in it.

I remember writing in the back of the original instructions where all the secret rooms were, stars of David that kind of stuff. Actually I still have those instructions.👍

Very original series! I grew up with the NES version. I had no clue about stage 2 for some of the platforms had the red fire demons instead of the whirling demon. That increases stage difficulty tenfold. I agree also. NES version had great control.

There was also a game for the GBC using the Monster Rancher license.

I think you slowed the DOS version down a bit too much, or perhaps it's a flaw in DOSBox's playing of the game. I had this for DOS back in 1988, it played much smoother and the music was the intended speed, even on a 286.

yes, i remember the music lot faster

Actually Tim did. Michiharu Hasutani composed the original arcade version. So as I was saying I like what Tim did with the sound effects and music on the NES port. PS: Tim is a wizard.

NES is the best version. The music and sound is miles above the others. It’s my favorite NES game.
@videogameobsession11 жыл бұрын
It's based on Hasutani's arcade soundtrack and doesn't stray. Yes it's uncommon for Tim not to go off on musical tangents, but his Lemmings PSP soundtrack doesn't sound like hhim either. I guess there is a chance it wasn't him, but on many of the official NSF tagging DAT's they show: "Solomon's Key (1986)(Tim Follin - Tecmo)(26 Songs)[With SFX].nsf" I think it sounds like his work. Nice multilayer-ed and thick sounding that he could pull off.

I still think the NES version is even better than the arcade version. The controls are tighter and I like what Tim Follin has done with the sound effects and music.

There wasn't one. I searched everywhere but it didn't turn up. Now, that's not to say that there isn't an ST port over done as a home brew out there.. I just couldn't find it or evidence of it's existence.

I'll be the first to say Tim Follin is a genius, but until you provide a source for your claim, I'll refuse to believe he scored Solomon's Key (NES). This is absolutely unlike any of his many other NES soundtracks (and much lower quality work).
