en.wikipedia.o...)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a gun shooting video game based on the film of the same name produced by Midway Manufacturing Company for the arcades in 1991. Home conversions were released by Acclaim Entertainment for various platforms under the title of T2: The Arcade Game in order to avoid confusion with the numerous tie-in games also based on the movie.
Plot
The story of the game falls in line with the movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day: to save the leader of the Human Resistance, John Connor, and his mother Sarah from the T-1000, a mimetic poly-alloy Terminator, bent on killing them both.
The player takes the role of a T-800 Terminator cyborg, already captured and reprogrammed by the human resistance, and fights alongside them against Skynet in the year 2029. Eventually, the T-800 and John Connor penetrate Skynet's headquarters and destroy the system CPU. Discovering the time displacement equipment, the T-800 is sent back through time to John's childhood, with the mission to protect him from the T-1000 that Skynet has already sent back. In the past, John, Sarah, and the T-800 launch an attack on Cyberdyne Systems in order to prevent the development and creation of Skynet. The T-1000 catches up to the group and pursues them in a police helicopter and a liquid nitrogen truck. The T-800 is able to freeze and shatter the T-1000 with the liquid nitrogen, but it quickly melts and reforms in order to continue its pursuit of John. Ultimately, the T-800 must stop the T-1000 from killing John and blast it into a vat of molten steel to destroy it.
The amount of equipment destroyed in the Cyberdyne raid determines whether or not the company's research will continue, either averting Judgment Day or allowing the possibility that it can still occur.
Gameplay:
Running on the Williams/Midway Y-Unit arcade hardware and Midway X-Unit, the 2 players essentially take part in controlling a T-800 model and gun down the terminators of the opposing side. The gameplay utilizes a first-person perspective, like the rest of the games in the genre.

I have played the Arcade version when i was a teenager, and was blown away how good id looked and sounded, with Arnold Schwarzenegger his voice in the game, and that you used a UZI to shoot all the terminators, was fantastic, wish we had arcade machines again on the fair, i really miss them.

SNES is the best home port. Its the only version that actually looks like the arcade game, and you can play it with the SNES mouse, so you get the best of both worlds.

hungryandrew Bafflignly enough, the home computer ports were the same as the Genesis one. Both the Amiga and the DOS pcs of the time could display enough colors to reproduce the arcade sprites.

All the ports from my favorite to least-- *Arcade *SNES (Graphics close to the arcade) *MS-DOS (if you got a computer with hard drive bigger than 640k) *Genesis (inferior graphics, lack of scaling) *Game Gear and Master System (inferior to the Genesis) *Game Boy (AVGN said that the Game Boy port is pathetic)

The SNES didn't have the same pacing, feel and impact. The colors were off on the Genesis, but it felt more engaging. honestly. It's like MK1 comparison. MK1 on the Genesis was faster and felt smoother. The SNES one has lame sound and didn't seem right, I can't explain it. The Arcade version was definitely worth the money spent when arcades were a thing!

excactly my opinion.. it was more hardcore on SNES:. beside you can get the right colours on gens roms by finding a mod for genesis games.. where they put more of the real colours inside det game

I have played the actual aracade cab of this only a few times once at a Game Works at the Grapevine Mills mall in Grapevine,Tx and at a Main Event in the same city or in Irving,TX. Sadly the Game Works closed and the Main Event bowling alley no longer has the T2 Arcade cab or any old arcade games for that matter. Quite sickening to think most big chain entertainment places have nearly phased out classic arcade games.Why they have done this is beyond me. I now play the Genesis version with the blue Konami Justifier light gun. This game deserves a port to the modern systems PS4 and Xbox One and or XB360 and PS3 for download.

I agree. It might be because Midway went out of business. I miss them. They made some of the greatest pinball and arcade games. Their games weren't bad when they went to game systems. I cant remember the one game where you had psychic telekinetic powers, but I loved it.
@The90sGamingGuy
@The90sGamingGuy 4 жыл бұрын
@@shonmoody1706 If your talking about Game Works they were owned by Sega i believe Sega shut down their arcade business some time back. If your talking about why we don't see T2 The Arcade Game in big chain arcade/ bowling alleys yea that could be since Midway went out of business and maybe replacement parts for the machines are now scarce and or expensive.

I am a huge Amiga fan, have many Amiga computers in my home, but sorry the Amiga version is awful, just like the Sega Genesis/Mega and MS-DOS version, the SNES looks the best, i always played the Arcade version when i was a teenager, and was blown away how good id looked and sounded, with Arnold Schwarzenegger his voice in the game, and that you used a UZI to shoot all the terminators, was fantastic, but the Amiga version and MS-DOS, and Sega Genesis/Mega is awful, and looks NOTHING like the original, i bough a Sega Multi Mega 2 years ago, and a SNES a year ago, and the SNES version is 10 times better then the Amiga version.

*Game Boy:* Surprisingly all around impressive for the limitations. *Game Gear:* Good color palette usage, rubbish control and frame rate. *Master System:* Better resolution than the Game Gear version but still rubbish to control. *Genesis:* Sub-par flat color usage, good smooth frame rate, above average music for the system from an American studio. *Super NES:* Great vibrant color usage, noticeable missing animation frames, digitized samples are low-res muffled crap. *MS-DOS:* Looks nice for VGA standards of the time, awful frame rate makes it unplayable. *Amiga:* Well optimized for Amiga's combined strengths & shortcomings, best music of any home version.

Agreed, aside from the original Arcade, SNES was the best. Genesis was quicker paced and a bit smoother, but I didn't care for the colors. Also, I don't get why everyone raves about the Genesis version's music. It just doesn't appeal to me, I guess. I prefer the SNES OST, even if it could have been better.
