Let's Craft Episode 4 Hasegawa 1/48 Aichi D3A1 Val (80th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor)

Hola comrades. 80 years ago today the war in the pacific began. The empire of Japan dealt a shocking blow to the US Navy at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. For this episode the subject I have chosen was one of the dive bombers deployed by the IJN during the attack, Hasegawa's 1/48 scale Aichi D3A1 Val.

Beautiful build! Love the cockpit detail - amazing. Thanks for sharing the photo of the cockpit interior. I’m in the process of building a 1/72 Val and was questioning the accuracy of the Airfix instructions which showed the interior colour as being blue, not the usual cockpit green. Thanks to your video and the image of the cockpit’s interior, I can proceed with confidence that I’ll be painting it the correct colour.

One technique you can try instead of using filler for wing gaps is to add a spreader bar under the cockpit to force the fuselage halves outwards. It works (most times).

Really, really nice! Unfortunately, I was 90% done with the build of my Val when I discovered your video. Tempted to pull it all apart and start over but . . . that's nuts. I'll just take what I learned from your video to my next project. Thank you!

I like how a swing arm is used for the middle bomb so it doesn't hit the propeller, and war thunder didn't model it, so it hits the prop if you're too steep

Nice interior detail with instrument panel and machine guns. I noticed you forgot to finish the landing gear seam. Totally ruined the model... Really? Its like you put them on as an after thought. Sorry, tell me I'm wrong...

The photo references I used had that seam on the gear covers.
