I show you how you can create a comprehensive collection of .esx files, containing a large selection of elements. I demonstrate how you can load individual samples from this collection of files, to use in your current project.

lots of really great ideas here to help with workflow on the esx! i really struggle with organization of my samples, and this is a great method which i'm going to start using a lot more. thank you for making the video and for making the .esx sample pack files. i'm going to buy the pack next week.

The potential of this is huge. Not only is it loaded with great samples, it also gives you a method, a template-strategy. I think this is the only tutorial I've seen which makes use of the underrated Esample feature (loading samples directly from songs is so convenient). Also, the SX's ability to preview/audition the Esample before loading is great UX (sadly ES2 does not support this template-able approach)

This method really has made a huge difference in my workflow. I'm already making a psytrance pack, just for my own use during live sets. As always, brother, thank you for watching. :)

@daniel While watching I was thinking "why did he choose dnb instead of psy???" This way of working with loading sample after sample, from classified folders, seems huge and fixes the main problem of every EsX owner : having an own soundbank which is complete, versatile, and adapted to its own tastes. Which cost so much times usually, for most of the time an unperfect result. Im pretty impressed by this way, a little bit an upgrade of Leon's electribraries. Just a bit disappointed this bank is really too much focussed on DnB. (hoping for a wider range of music style one, with less such DnB specific sounds. A Psy one will be awesome, but everybody do not work and prefer trance...) Big uP 👍

Hi Daniel, here's the question that isn't related to the video but since you have had so many ESXs you could probably know the answer. I have an SD version of ESX and it has problems with the Audio In input. If I use it for send(out3/4)/return(audio in) with external pedals the processed sound sounds fine for some time then it starts to fade out (usually left channel) and eventually I will bare hear the singnal until I switch Audio In to Mic position and turn the Audio In knob to max. Then the sound comes back with the insane volume and blows my ears. After that I can switch the selector back to Line level and it will work for a short period of time. Then it will start to fade out again. I know that it's a hardware problem, but probably fixable. I think that it is not related to the tubes but something else. I can solder simple things if needed. Could you (or anybody here) advise something on how to fix it? Thank you
@danieklerr
@danieklerr Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't had any issues of that sort, and unfortunately I can't wrap my head around why that is happening. I'm certain it's a hardware issue, but it's the fading that perplexes me. I once had a Korg MicroX that drifted out of tune slowly, and it turned out to be a disconnected wire to a potentiometer with a resistor, namely the pitch joystick. I wonder if something is no longer connected, or too loose, inside near the input gain? Anyway, I appreciate you watching and I hope you get it sussed. Please let us know when you figure out what it was, so we can use this information for reference.

@@danieklerr Hi Daniel, thanks for the reply. I've spent some time dismantling the esx during the weekend and decided to resolder all the output/input connectors. Nothing special, added some flux and toasted all the soldering points. Didn't have much free time to play, but plugged the guitar to Audio In input and strummed some chords. It seems to be working without problems, though I'm not 100 percent sure, have to spend some more time. But during the 2 hours of playing no fade outs were detected. Fingers crossed. To all those that have the same problem - I've tried to change the tubes to the shitty sovtek pair that I have, but it didn't fix the issue, so probably it's not related to the tubes, at least in my case. I'll send updates if anything goes wrong. And thanks again Daniel for all your work

Hey Daniel.. do you have a video on sample prep in Ableton? and can you do this with Ableton Lite
@danieklerr
@danieklerr Жыл бұрын
Hello.. Yes, you can use Ableton Lite, as sample prep for me mainly uses the superior Ableton warp engine and the stock limiter. I will do a short video soon on how I make this happen, and if I can remember I'll stop by here and let you know. Thank you for watching!

Can you do a tutorial on the different jungle programming methods? I’m wondering if it’s possible to do the method whereby if you change the BPM the pitch of the program we break will stay the same but also will be stretched accordingly etc hope I make some sense :)
@spedslojp3353
@spedslojp3353 Жыл бұрын
I think it’s done in the mpc or Digitakt by using velocity to sample start different per step values
@danieklerr
@danieklerr Жыл бұрын
Hello.. In this method, if you change the tempo the pitch will not change. If you slow it down too much, there will be gaps between the hits, but the tempo change would have to be very drastic for that to be an issue. Thank you for watching!

Have you ever tried to feedback loop the esx? Does it work, does nothing happen, will it destroy the machine? I can’t find answers before I try it
@danieklerr

Haha, great question! Honestly, though, I don't love the current "feedback synth" movement enough to sacrifice one of my ESX units. Thanks for watching. :)

It worked fine. Ran it out to a blue electribe than back to the esx. Just really loud, ran it into something with adjustable audio In volume. Resampled to create a nice little waveform blip for granule looping. Any cool way to create a new sound is fine by me.

@@BombstractGnome .. Amazing! By the way, if you take tiny parts out of any sample, exactly 674 samples, they will give you a perfect C note when looped. :) Thanks for letting me know about the feedback possibilities.

I agree! I also really enjoy working with the "new" Electribe Sampler. It has some serious flaws, and it never should have been called an Electribe, which is the main problem. At face value, it's a 16-track multitimbral sampler/sequencer, with dedicated insert and master effects, for around $300. At that price point, it kind of delivers. Thank you for watching! PS.. The ESX and ES2 combination is a killer live setup. :)
