I have this amp. I mainly use the clean channel as a pedal platform. Fuzz pedals through the clean channel are crushing. I use this amp more than my tube amps.

Sm57s & Vintage 30s go a long way in creating that sound. But those solid state Oranges are effing slick. Analog solid state is so dope.

All my orange heads sounds different. I have different reasons to use one or another. My point here is to show how good the orange crush sounds. Anyway I'll pick the crush over a lot of more expensive amplifiers

Nice tone man! I have basically the same setup, except I got Shure SM58. I cannot mike it up, though. It just captures so much sounds from the room, even with full gain on my scarlett. Do you use any additional tools between your sm57 and focusrite? Btw, love this series, looking forward for more bands on CR120H dialed up! Giving sub!
@tonemorphdan3 жыл бұрын
Sorry for late answering. No, I don't use anything else. Just my sm57 and my focusrite. But the sm57 is way more directional than the sm58. I was thinking about switching to the sm58 back in the days, but you really need a good room for that. Since I don't have, i'll stick with my 57. Except this, you just gave me another idea for some videos
@hyperstimmed3 жыл бұрын
the 58 is generally a vocal mic
@tonemorphdan3 жыл бұрын
@@hyperstimmed Yes but it can be also used for guitars, the problem is that if you don't have a good threated room it will give a loot of feedback
@mikeceebo86113 жыл бұрын
Is this OK for faster, hardcore punk stuff? Think Converge, that kind of riffage. Would this keep up with a decent distortion pedal in front?
@tonemorphdan3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, Let's say that it depends also by the pickups that you use. With my Gibson LP (with 498t at the bridge) it may need an overdrive in front to tight up a bit the tone. About distortion pedal, I'll go with the clean channel because this amp is one of the best pedal platform that I ever tried in my life. I'll be back this week on my IG and on my KZbin Channel with a new "Let's CRUSH That Tone" episode. Except this, I'll do a video about what you said! How does the crush takes pedals in the front I mean. Stay tuned! Hit a follow and feel free to ask other questions, I'll be glad to help! Cheers!

Thanks so much for sharing this, the riffs sound great! I have troubl dialing in the right tones on my CR120. I've been using more distortion pedals. What are your master and channel volumes here? It's hard to tell.
@tonemorphdan3 жыл бұрын
I don't remember about the master, but at least 3 or 4. Never went over 7 or 8 for the lead.
@ballsofdoom31243 жыл бұрын
What are you looking to do? For tighter metal tones I use a Soul Food as a boost in the front. It still retains that wooly Orange tone but adds that extra push.
@Ryan_Q3L3 жыл бұрын
@@ballsofdoom3124 I went back a forth with a Maxon ST9 + Pro and a Maxon OD808; I like the 808 better. It just brings the amp alive. I definitely recommend it. But my main distortion tones are now coming from my Friedman BE-OD Deluxe paired with a Mooer Radar in the loop. The radar is used as an EQ and cab sim, using the Fender Bassman setting. All of these make my CR120H and Orange vert 212 roar.
@tonemorphdan3 жыл бұрын
@@ballsofdoom3124 I just remembered of this comment now, cause I got another pedal last week that fits perfectly in front of all of my orange amps. Stay tuned!
