Christmas should be celebrated after Remembrance Day the 11/11. My husband is marching at the Cenetaph this year. So many people seem to forget and just jump on the commercialism of Christmas.

I too am a veteran and respect the 11th Nov just as much especially after serving in Afghanistan, I think they are two very separate things to be respected in their own right 🙂❤️ Ben x

This American is all about Christmas decorations starting November 1st too. We love looking and enjoying our Christmas tree and decor for more than a few weeks. Wrapping gifts early and feeling blessed to also help other families that are struggling in our community. So Sullivan family, put those Christmas decorations up and enjoy every moment.

Christmas is only too early when those people don't have many too buy for. I've nearly finished as I have two adult children 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandson's. As well as others to buy for. Xx

I’m all about Christmas. My husband prefers to wait until December 1st for decorations. We usually compromise with putting things up the third week of November. I’ve already started shopping though. Ben and Zoe, I can’t even imagine the planning and preparation that goes into Christmas for all the children! Put your decorations up whenever you like. It’s a joyful season and your whole family loves it!🎄

November 1 feels too soon. As you've pointed out, as Americans have Thanksgiving, we have less incentive to start Christmas two months early. Also American daily life doesn't halt for Christmas week as it does in the UK. Enjoy the anticipation and preparation! We certainly could use a reason to be on our best behavior, especially in the US in the coming weeks following the election.

@@amyschneidhorst1384 hello! American living in the UK. Life doesn’t really stop here the week of Christmas. Kids are off almost the same. Might be a bit longer. But they only are off 6 weeks in the summer. For my house we’ll decorate two weeks from today. I like it done before thanksgiving so two weeks time works for us this year. I’ll still cook thanksgiving dinner here,…. Just with Christmas decorations all up!

@@Lisa-BoundByBooksThere is an exception to every rule. Enjoy. You and yours and others in here must be the intended audience for the early Fall Christmas items in stores here. As for the UK, my understand of holiday culture there is from having lived there myself years ago as well as UK friends and BBC. I am sure things have changed and vary from person to person.

My youngest gets three weeks off over Christmas, eldest gets just over two weeks and my husbands workplace shuts down for nine days. It's so nice having so much time off to be together. Some of my friends and family in the US only get a few days which is a shame. One of them only gets the one day off and she's so exhausted that she sleeps through some of the day. 😴 May I ask..is thanksgiving just as big/not as big as Christmas? As it's a US tradition I'm curious to know how you celebrate it. 😃

Get your Christmas going Zoe, I really look forward to your run up to Christmas. Also you have such a busy life you have to get it all started early. Xx I finished watching you don’t worry about the dust on the stairs that will be there tomorrow. I’m going on 77 not able to walk round the shops to much but I have two great grandsons 1 and 3 I get great enjoyment buying the stocking fillers but like you I don’t like tat so I’m looking forward to your ideas.

Zoe. Your face really lit up when you mentioned Christmas. 😃🎅 I'm currently making and decorating almost 500 gift tags for the school i volunteer in. We have a fun day in December and each child writes their wish on the tag then put it on the Wish Tree. Out of all my ideas, this one is the most popular. 🎄🏷
