I have an Idea for next year's videos. Everday Steve puts in $500 dollars into a game he likes for 10 minutes & Likewise for Matt. Add up who does the best for the year.

Obviously, Steve begrudgingly agreed to play triple double bonus poker before today's session. And yet, Steve has tried every trick in the book to switch games for nearly the entire session. He wont edit himself at all. It's as though his job description is fulfilled by making sure his point of view (aka, his "gambling philosophies") and annoyances are expressed. I wonder if Steve can flip a switch in his head to simply stop trying to get what he wants. If not, who is in control of Steve's mind? These constant "power plays" for control detract from the thrill of chasing the jackpot, IMHO.
@Trekpanther2 күн бұрын
The thing is, he isn't wrong IF your bankroll isn't high to afford chasing that jackpot. You already have to be in a financial position to not just gamble, but gamble with thousands of dollars that you can be okay with losing all of it on a very volatile version of a game that has less volatile options around a casino. Since he's been in the business and selling books that are geared towards a casual player that doesn't have high bank rolls I understand why he has that mindset and while I get it's frustrating to folks who only want to see the big unrealistic wins happen often on video, Steve needs to point it out for folks who don't have that high bank roll. To parrot Steve, it's a gambling philosophy geared towards your lower bank roll casual players, not KZbin videos where folks just want to see high-bank roll big action.
@MrBrain42 күн бұрын
@@Trekpanther The Gents are playing a long game, where they play thousands of hands in a year. When you're already going to be playing this kind of volume, the volatility will tend to wash out over time, and what is more important is to be playing games where you minimize (or reverse) the house edge. So for them, it makes no sense to leave a game with maxed out multipliers, and switch to a game that has a 2% advantage for the casino.
@DCourt_12 күн бұрын
@@Trekpanther Your comment has merit; having the bank roll matters when chasing the jackpot. But Steve's demeanor wasn't about his responsibility as an opinion leader in the video poker playing field to educate viewers on the nuances of bankroll management. Steve was doing the rhetorical strategy of "throwing spaghetti at the wall trying to see what would stick". It had nothing to do with "booking a win" or “Steve’s gambling philosophies" or "educating players on the nuances of bank roll management". Steve will do and say whatever it takes to get what he wants despite having agreed to play TDB poker for this session.

@@MrBrain4 My point is that I think the folks criticizing his father need to understand where Steve is coming from, that most of his career advice/books/etc is not geared towards folks who can afford the long game. I get why he makes those points and it doesn't matter how many times folks complain about him wanting to leave high volatility games, there's 20-30 years+ mindset that is not conducive to the high bank roll long game EV play on KZbin. Or if it's to the point of the viewer that is watching the video does not enjoy that, quite frankly they need to move onto another Video Poker channel that is okay with blowing their bank loads over high volatility games because Steve isn't going anywhere and I don't think Matt is going to tell his father to stop doing it just for the benefit of those viewers.

It's a bummer to not hit quads or it taking too long, but you gotta stay and play with those multipliers. It doesn't make sense to switch games.

Yes, when there are enough big multipliers, you should play until you hit one or more of them.

Your dad just complains and complains and complains. Can't he just enjoy it? So what if you went from Triple Double to Double Double or some other game. You don't know, he does not know, I do not know... Nobody knows if he would have gotten luckier if you guys moved onto another game. Why can't he just enjoy? I just got ticked off when he said at 12:00 that if people want to watch you chasing the multipliers. It just does not matter. Nobody knows if you would have gotten luckier if you moved on to another game. He is constantly nagging.
@danjender66672 күн бұрын
Dad is correct, for me anyway. Watching the $ go down, down, down chasing multipliers on straight and flush is PAINFUL
@andrewfindysz94652 күн бұрын
They lose so much chasing multipliers when they were all set to quit and move on. It happens constantly. Even when it pays off one day in the future, my guess is that over the course of time they still in the hole. This game was basically designed to trap the chasers.

I, for one, like seeing you guys make smart plays ultimately netting the big payout. Unlike Steve, I see value in continued play on a game with maxed out four of a kinds until the games RTP drops (because you guys hit the four of a kind with a maxed multiplier). Obviously, it was about playing for quad A, 2, 3 and 4s with a kicker for $1500 or $3000. The Gents were able to take shots at those jackpots for about 20 minutes, and it only cost them around $250. That's not a crazy strategy.
@MrBrain42 күн бұрын
100% correct!
@Trekpanther2 күн бұрын
So while I get the EV is high to get a 4oK on Triple Double with the bonus, it seems like it's a strategy that wouldn't work if your bank roll isn't as high as y'alls, it might be gone by the time you hit that 4oK multiplier or even if you get it the return isn't as high because you went so far down the hole. It's an expensive strategy for those who's bank roll is like above $500, not for any casual player who should in the overall scheme stick to single line or at least JoB/BP
@georgespalding76402 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think they need to rethink the philosophy on this strategy. Sometimes quads don't show up for 500 hands.
@MrBrain42 күн бұрын
Running away from a +EV situation because you want to lock in a small gain makes no sense. The machine does not care whether you have recently won or lost, so you have to keep going when the game is in your favor.

Ultimate X Gold videos are my least favorite. Always playing stupid while chasing the multipliers. 9/10 times losing more money than what its worth to hit one. Dad is right on this game. Get lucky fast and get out with your shirt on. Play something he likes occasionally, so he can enjoy the day, and maybe we will too.
