Let's Get This Over With - The Adventure Zone

Ever since I heard the new They Might Be Giants album, I knew I had to spend the next 2 months drawing 265 frames of TAZ fan art.
This video owes a huge debt to the ones that came before it, especially "Don't Let's Start" by Nutellarella ( bit.ly/2yAM7Ow ) and "Hey Brother" by TalkingBunnyRabbits ( bit.ly/2viv4U7 ). Truly pioneers in the field of over-involved TAZ animatics that take way too long to produce.

this is honestly so good. i love the attention to detail like how you included a lot of the little jokes and things that would be easy to forget about. it gives me almost the same feeling i got when i was listening to balance for the first time. idk if that makes sense but like it’s obvious that so much work went into this and i just wanted to say how much i like it!

It's difficult to explain, but I'll try. First I believe it's overwhelming, seeing all these familiar scenes but in a visual format. Like, when you hear a reference to something and you're like "hey, I know what that is!" Especially overwhelming is the scene near the end, where they summon all these familiar characters like Garfield and Joaquin and Roswell, when they do the final push against the Hunger. The part of the song matched with this scene somehow makes the part of the video more intense, I suppose? It gives me a feeling of optimism, which leads to some sort of happiness. I hope that makes sense?

It's been a while, so it's hard to remember for sure, but if I recall correctly, this video was what got me to start listening to The Adventure Zone. I felt intrigued by the depictions of events, which are mysterious to varying degrees without the context of the story. Fairly amazing to come back and watch it again knowing what the hell is going on in it now.

A perfect combination of two of my favorite things, TMBG and TAZ! I haven't listened to any new TMBG songs so this is a real treat for me experiencing it through the wonderful story of TAZ Balance. Your drawings perfectly summed up the critical moments of each arch and let me experience the whole story in 3 minutes. Great drawings for everything. I really like the character choices you made. It was really cool to see renderings of extra characters like the elevator and Cassie and the multiplying electro bears. Great animatic I loved it!
