The designer of this was in the amazing late 90s/00s band Eureka Farm - their album The View was really enigmatic and surreal - been a favorite amongst my friends for decades 🎉
@gordon74785 ай бұрын
Sounds hella interesting; thanks for the recommendation! They don't have much of an online presence, so I'll have to dig up a copy of The View, but I'm listening to Teleprompter off their previous album, Analog, as we speak, and they're definitely right up my alley.
@unfamiliarenvironments5 ай бұрын
@@gordon7478 glad you found it Worthwhile - hard to believe it’s not on KZbin yeah, maybe some label BS perhaps - but totally on Bandcamp. Analog is great too, but the View is on another level. A mystery why it flew so under the radar at the time - if you like that track check out Terraforming from the View

@gavinpeters95315 ай бұрын
Super happy to see this.. interesting that it comes to me now too. Over the last year I've been a bit lost. The past few years I finally had enough money to let my GAS go wild.. Then this year (and the end of last).. I reached that point some of us do where you realise it is just too much. I've been coming back to small and simple devices and finding myself far more productive, inspired, happy. I guess despite being a tech nerd, and being excited about features.. I never needed them. I am reminded of the time I got my first gear (an original SP-404), and every sound was an exploration into the unknown, rather than sitting down trying to 'plan' what I will do. I also feel like there is an ergonomic reason this is the case... Simply it is to do with arm length and eye sight. Despite trialling angled stands, shelves, desks, etc... If it is not right in front of me, there's a high probability that it isn't going to end up doing anything, and an even higher probability that I am going to spend the day rearranging and cabling things rather than making music....
@pppfffggg5 ай бұрын
Hey, I have very few music devices, but even then I had to discipline my self: I arrange and setup my studio with every cable etc and everything connected to only one power switch. I make music… never touch the setup until the work is done. Then I will rearrange the setup again for another type of sound, project…

Yeah, that's actually a really good point. The Radiohead gang is great at bringing kinda experimental sounds and bleeps into a compositional production process, and then ironing out a unique sound into every song.

Nice. Elektron’s first box, the Sidstation, was very much like this tbh. It was a little wacky, especially compared with their later instruments. Have one of the early SN. It’s a machined metal box with a standard off the shelf alphanumeric keypad. And it sounds dirty and wild, because it’s got an actual SID chip in.

Listen, I follow all the news in music equipment, but I am rather prudent, I always think carefully and I don't buy anything that I can't achieve at the moment, but THIS IS AWESOME - it's a pity that it's so expensive currently (at least in my budget). I'm waiting patiently, but I haven't liked anything this much in a long time, the interface looks like you're programming the trajectory of an atomic bomb. During your presentation, I caught at least ten loops that resonate with me. Do you know any sequencer in VST that is so simple and crazy?
