I have seen a couple of these - we had one on our farm and so did my Grandad. Never saw it used though.

I've got one used it about a month ago on the old manure spreader kinda helps separating the chain

Yep first step is try with a board and hammer to split chain after an hour of cussing and repenting and smashing fingers just go get the the chain breaker

I got a lesson on one of those when I was a kid in the 60's, helping my Dad replace a broken chain link on a NewIdea manure spreader

I went to the Red Power Roundup Show 2024 in Spencer, Iowa , it was fantastic. We visited the first 2 days, Thursday and Friday but unfortunately Saturday and Sunday had to be cancelled due to the flooding. There were quite a few gold demonstrators there. Love your videos. Best wishes. Peter. 🚜🇬🇧

My Dad used to use that "flat chain tool" as a backside hand flattening anvil when we replaced lost rivets on the cycle bar mower. It was a handy thing to have around for sure.

Pete!!!!! What a great video! .....the only thing I liked (slightly less than your smiling face and excellent tractor information)...... was the mention of the GREEN grass. We love GREEN grass in this part of PA. It just goes to show....that even GREEN grass lovers can't get enough of JAFAF! Keep up the "Good work" Rich from PA.

Pete, Happy Father's Day! I knew nothing about tractor and mechanics until I started watching your videos. Was in Costco's fuel line where a lane over from me was an over-all clothed gentleman pulling his trailer with tractor, so I approached and asked what year his tractor... can't remember anymore, but was he impressed I asked about his tractor. He appeared to be an ole local farm family decendent. Can kick myself for not asking about how he got into farming and to see if what I thought was true. Anyways, I mentioned Farmall and a few models- he asked how I know about tractors; I answered don't but learning through Pete's channel- JaFAF. Thank you for introducing me to farming and tractors.

Pete, I recently worked with a gentleman who knows you in person. He, too, was a farmer. He had dairy cows. He used to share stories with me about how hay used to be baled with wire. This video just brought all those memories flooding back. Those very same bale wires are still used today. Only we use them now for baling cardboard, paper and plastic bales.

Hi Pete. for whatever it's worth, yours is the first KZbin channel I've subscribed to,. My wife and I have a longstanding habit of watching your videos after we've eaten dinner. So lately we've been watching videos from four years ago. We started with your very first videos that you uploaded seven years ago. I told my wife that I wanted to subscribe. I'm retired and three years short of 70; despite this I stay busy and watching four or five videos from years ago, I realized that subscribing is the least I can do. I'll probably subscribe to Squatch359 and Diesel Creek since I've been watching their videos for years. We enjoy every aspect of your videos, from Ezra the cat to "the monsters" (young pigs); I particularly enjoy your Farmers Market videos. Please know you and Hilary and your kids have become precious to us.

Pete. That heavy tool that you showed us at around the four minute mark is for holding a flat chain ( like what would be used for the web of a manure spreader) steady while you hit it with a hammer to take it apart. Makes taking a chain apart a breeze. Happy father's day!!
