Seems like the tonnage of ammo is more realistic than MW5M. Like a ton of ammo only gets you so far here, while a ton in the other MWs lets you waste shots. I've only watched Bara's playthroughs, so no firsthand experience, but it seems like you can't be so trigger-happy with projectiles/missiles. I think that's good here.

Back when I ws palying the TT my rule of thumb was, always bring enough ammo for 10 to 15 rounds of fire. And this also works in each and any game ... with the exception of Ultra and RAC ...

I am 100% glad they added the scan mode. It was such a pain finding the hidden caches in mercs. Definitely going to be buying this game.

Scouting and destroying HUNDREDS of enemy mechs. I love Mechwarrior gamss...but the way they span difficulty is by throwing legions of Mechs at you. In the Santander campaign, in one of the cut-scenes, it's disclosed that Pirate dude has 2 understrength battalion of mixed Mech and armor (max 72 mechs with tanks and hovercraft to fill out combat-effective units) Through it, my light lance killed at least 200 Mechs and encounted VTOLs and tanks.

Barradul: you wanna max the mech salvage every time. The armor and structure upgrades are expensive and the mechb salvage is always the smallest. Then weapons 70% of what’s left over, equipment only 30%.

When you figure out omnipods and pilot synergies it gets cool. You can swap entire loadout pod and each part in ways that are cool, which I like, even if I have to play a clanner. The chase for the pickle pirate and the lore aerospace battle stuff is awesome, I read the novels as they hit the shelves at Waldenbooks...

Every mech lab is honestly worse than the last. And at this point it's malice on the part of devs. They know exactly what the people want because every single fucking battletech universe game has a mod that adds this feature. Mainly tabletop mechlab system. And if nee players are overwhelmed just allowed them to simplify. The least they could have done is literally copy YAML.

@@Northcross9 Fully Agree. Conole Gamers can have this Trash. I will stick to MW5 Mercs and hope for more improvements on Von VonHud with Commander. Modders would have way too much work to make MW5 Clans an enjoyable replayable Game. But Maybe they can make that wonder happen. So far the Only thing this Game Makes better is the Map with the Tactic View and Options, generel Graphic Effects and better animated Chracters and Cutcenes. I understand that Loot would work a bit different here with Clans since they arent a Mercs Group and the Clans usually have the better Tech avaible anyways. But they could still Salvage Mechs from Enemies because not every Clan used the same Mechs, they had preferences and their own Mech Versions developed. Dont know if you know Earthsiege 1 and 2, a rly good Mech Game that came out around the Time of Mechwarrior 2. It had also a different Approach on progression and Loot. Even that System like 20 years ago was better than this.

- I opted for a Large Pulse Laser and kept the LB 5-X on the Kit Fox. I felt the range is a better match with the LBX than the ER Large. - I went with 4 MGs on the Viper, kept the 2 Medium Pulse, and put 2 ER Mediums on the other arm. Still testing it.

Just found out today, you can swap the seperated Omniparts for each mech. Just press E (on PC) while you look at, for example, the right torso, and you can swap it with another Omnipart. Clearly you need to have that part bought with the mech XP^^

Well clan smoke kitty was one of, if not the most, brutal clans. It was founded my a mentally unstable individual. The clans rules about engagement (Ie not bombing civilians and such) was made due to this clan.

not really, they do stick close to you but god forbid if you try to do reverse movement or play like MWO. they will follow you everywhere without any regards to where enemy are unless you give order to attack. Battlegrid is clunky since you cant pause and give orders during it.

I'd agree except I saw Mia stand still, look at and proclaim that the mech right under her was going crit. As well as Ezra turning his back on the Skolos/AC5 spam bird and get cored in half a second. I have more faith in vanilla MW5 Goblin with all tier 5 weapons on a tier 100 mission than this star.

@@alfo149 except u can somewhat prevent that as u are the Starcommander and can direct them via the map and have them further away. tell them to attack and then postition them in a good spot and they will hang around that area which should solve a good few of the issues

If you have everyone set to follow you first (the default), then you can tell a badly damaged star member to guard a location. Everyone else will continue to follow you.

OK, so now that I've gotten a bit farther into the campaign, I can say I'm OK with how they designed the mech lab. I get it. The first thing I suggest people do after the first mission is unlock missile boat omnipods for every mech lol. I was able to unlock 4 out of the 5 after what I believe was the first mission. Then I unlocked the last one I wanted after the second mission. It was the ppc one. There's only one that comes with it I believe. I was having trouble with the second mission, kept losing a mech, so I loaded the autos Ave after the first mission and went into the mech bay and started configuring for missile boats. Missile boats are hyped for a reason. Every starter mech has a missile boat omnipod except 1 I believe, but thats OK because that one has a ppc omnipod. After switching omnipods and going with what I knew, I got through the mission without losing a mech or even a component on expert. Im also focusing on learning the controls and being more tactical and precise in my movements and strategy. God I love Mechwarrior lol.

Good video Bara, I'm really liking this so far. That Mechlab UI is going to need getting used to, but bringing it more inline with BattleTech along with giving orders seems like a big UI improvement over Mercenaries. I also like how the AI seems pretty well improved. The biggest non-game issue I can see is if you only bothered to learn IS 'mechs then you're going to learn a bunch of new 'mechs.

Just beat the game yesterday, last planet was just 5 x 9 ER Large Direwolves and 1 shoting everything . as soon as my weapons come online at 80% heat I just alpha all 9 Lasers right away with no penalty lol EZ

You should unlock the Adder. Adder is better than Kit Fox or Mist Lynx. Do not forget to purchase new omni pods.

You apparently can only use slot-using armor components as if they were omnipod weapons. It's absolutely DISGUSTING how bad the armor system is in this abomination of a mechlab.

Excellent video as always. Is Baradul, is Baragood. On controller they had scanning on the d-pad but I put it on one of my back paddles and it’s much less annoying now. Something to get used to. I don’t love it. I do love a lot about the game already but am still wrapping my head around it.

I did, just in case. But the A.I mates seem much smarter a more more tactically agressive. Couldnt ask for less. Eugenics can do wonders to exterminate " dumb " genes. Though they have a slight pathfinding hiccup sometimes but nowhere near what MW5M ( without mods ) have

@@odinulveson9101 Natural selection, not eugenics. BattleTech lore makes that very clear. Eugenics is a racist form of "science" while natural selection is the simple act that the "superior Mechwarrior" will prevail in ritualized combat. Eugenics is basically the ideology the Nazis ran on, while if you best all of your enemies in combat then that's not really questionable as to who was the superior one in combat.

@@felix5728 I can see why you'd think that but lore wise the clans practiced natural selection with selective breeding. That's at worst evolutionary biology while eugenics says that certain people are inherently better or worse simply due to who they are with no objective basis, although historically whether in the US or Europe it has been a racist ideology. That's also why I said I don't want to talk about this, this game obviously isn't painting the clans as racist supremacists so the this isn't really an appropriate place to talk about such a topic.

I don‘t think a pirate lord in the periphery had a hand on a Hachetman or a Raven at this time in the Mechwarrior universe. And Ecm doesn’t exist in this time. Maybe ComStar had something like that.

There is a linear storyline, some simpod training/practice missions and that's it. It does not have the sandbox or career mode of Mercs.

Oh they do, but that's later in the campaign. Right now they're pacifying pirate worlds along the Periphery in preparation for the invasion ob the Inner Sphere proper.

Why is the pirate not confused on who is kicking his ass? As far as I remember the clans just showed up one day and started kicking ass, no one in the inner sphere knew they existed let alone coming back.

They are confused. When the pirate king saw the unfamiliar mechs he talked about destroying the DCMS' newest toys. He also says something like, "You snakes never learn, this is my planet". He clearly believes they're from the Draconis Combine.
