Knifing, when mastered, can actually save up tons of ammo (but should usually be confined when one is faced by up to 3 opponents at a time), and, combined with a trick where you blast a small hole in a secret wall (small enough for you to get in but not the monsters), you can essentially knife down hordes that way. That said, in TG health usually is more important than ammo.

Tips in telegltch. Do not worry about ammo cus they are found everywhere but if you're a crap player then master the knife. To see secret rooms you just have to look for holes in the walls. It should be a secret room. If you only heal yourself with canned meat you can raise your healf up to 150.

Am I the only one who not only thinks that Teleglitch is radically different from The Binding of Isaac and wishes that NL would find some other gaming touchstones to compare things to but also greatly prefers Teleglitch?

The game is coming out in 2 days, you can already pre-order it to also get bonus features, if you feel like it. Afaik, it will be available on steam.

It's not a review though. It's an impression, a personal opinion video, that still showcases and gets the word out that the game is even there. He even said it's a game people would love if they knew about it, and that is accomplished with this video.
@shadowen194211 жыл бұрын
Agreed, it gives you an additional weapon and something to do with all those nailboxes that you will find so you have more ammo. The nailgun is good for smaller enemies and works well on groups of them too. I believe you just need to find the 'hardware' and 'tube' items to turn the pistol into a nailgun. You should also be able to find a 2nd pistol soon as well so you can have both weapons and use those 9mm rounds.
@xucthclu11 жыл бұрын
Sometimes enemies do drop canned meat, but you're right, one is better off avoiding having to kill them (or leading them into the anomaly, which insta-kills them). Also, autopistol becomes more useful as one progresses and starts using other weapons as well, which makes the ammo more abundant; as for the explosives, I can also disagree dree on the fact that, if you gather a particularly large mob on your tail (more than, say, 20 monsters) an RDX500 will be more effective.
@fimbulvntr11 жыл бұрын
Northernlion, if you ever decide to do a let's play of teleglitch, keep in mind you can use conventional weapons or agl-1 sticky bombs to blow crates/walls that are blocking secret areas. You do not need to use RDX explosives. Upvote this so he can see!

ACtually, if you read on the publisher's website (Paradox) you can see that "Those who already own Teleglitch from its previous launch will be upgraded to Die More Edition at no charge, and will also receive the pre-order bonuses."
@CabbageFoot1611 жыл бұрын
They share the fact that they are a dungeon crawler top-down real time game that utilizes the mouse and keyboard. Binding of Isaac has no crafting, no melee, no continuous level design (rather zelda style rooms), it is considerably slower paced, it has an arcady/silly theme to it (while tele-glitch is frantic survival horror). Other then that, you're right they are totally similar ;b
@xucthclu11 жыл бұрын
The levels are not procedurally generated in the way most roguelikes handle that. There are premade locations/rooms that get put together when you start a level, a certain room can only be paired with certain other rooms, but the order in which they may be paired up or which rooms it will be paired together with is randomised. Consider it, as someone mentioned pseudo-generated. I think it's nice in that it has the random element, but foregoes the blandness that PG levels usually have.
@xucthclu11 жыл бұрын
The game has: *permadeath *randomised levels *a crafting system It does not, however, feature turn-based playstyle or leveling, so whether the lack of those elements deem it not roguelike is your call. Personally, I'd say it's primarily a top-down survival shooter with roguelike elements, if I want to be as precise as I can possibly be.

There is more to games then looks. He is mostly referring too the fact it is a rogue-like but you don't gain levels you instead rely on random item finding to advance. I do agree that the similarities are tentative.

A nice thing about games with "simplistic design" is the fact that anybody can Imagine what the monsters/protagonists look like, and are open to interpretation. most fanart of today's AAA games is similar. the creatures, if any are all defined, and fully explained, not that that's terrible either.

@shadowen194211 жыл бұрын
Some points: - I believe anyone who got this on Desura is automatically upgraded to the Die More Edition. - Yes, the graphics are ugly and I think it would be nice if they were redone and also supported some higher resolutions in the process, but the game is still a lot of fun and challenging - If you are one who is susceptible to motion sickness, there should be options to turn off both the camera rotation and zooming in/zooming out when moving between rooms

It's the only Roguelike/Topdown Shooter he (and most people, really) are familiar with. Heck, I can only name a single other example besides this myself (that being Shoot First). And honestly you're going to get more people knowing what BOI is than if he'd said "Berzerk crossed with NetHack" or something.
@xucthclu11 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't consider the game horror, but it does surely have a survival element to it, as you have to manage your health, ammo and items rather carefully, as well as be cautious with your progression through rooms. Think of it as non-horror-survival-shooter type of thing.

You haven't played through the whole game, the color themes do change as you progress through levels. The color theme has a lot to do with the locations where player finds himself in. The zooming could be turned off, as far as I remember, the rotating couldn't, which may be inconveniencing during combat, but otherwise, you get used to it. However, I have to completely disagree on the LoS shadowing, as I absolutely love that feature!

I get that drawing parallels to other, arguably similar, forms of media helps to easily become more accustomed to new media. When you are, however, in NL's position, you should really try to make no comparisons to other specific titles because that is simply not fair to developers who are trying to put out new games. Hell, many modern gamers aren't familiar with the game "Rogue" but use the term "Rouge-like" without really knowing what they are saying.

I don't know about you, but from a completely unbiased perspective, that makes me want to go play TBoI: A similar game with "more charm" than this one. I said "usually", not "always". You can't just look at a single game in a vacuum, especially if you're trying to determine if said game is worth buying, because a big part of determining that is comparing to what else you could get for the same cash. For example, if I completely ignored the existence of other MMS, Black Ops 2 would look like an innovative experience that should knock my socks off, not a seen-it-all-before snoozefest. You cannot produce this kind of content without comparisons.

Is it possible to knife without taking damage? It looks annoying that they force you to knife sometimes by limiting your ammo, but that you're not able to accomplish it without getting hit. I'm not saying the knife should be overpowered and just kill everything -I'd say a good balance would be if it doesn't do much damage, but I'd rather have to poke something 10 times and not get hit, then poke something once and take 2 or more damage.

Just started watching some of your videos after hearing about you time after time. One of the things I've realized in a lot of the games you play is that the game volume is way to low and you are very loud. One of my favorite things about Teleglitch is how nice the guns sound when fired, but with your audio so low you can barely hear them.
@yurisorcerer11 жыл бұрын
that's why for awhile he wasn't calling them that (the whole "roguelike-like" thing, silly to say to be sure, but accurate), but people complained about that too. These kinds of semantic debates are unwinnable, because no one is ever satisfied. And honestly I sort of doubt NL himself is familiar with Rogue, not the most accessible game in the world. Mostly, I'm just sick of people bitching about stupid shit in the comments to NL's videos. I actually prefer the overused injokes.
