I’ve been using a DIY remineralizing toothpaste for well over a year now. I definitely recommend it. My teeth are no longer sensitive and whiter than ever. I recommend the recipe from Bumblebee apothecary.

I use egg shell powder almost daily. I put the powder into gel caps and take it that way. I also sprinkle it over my dogs food about 3 times a week. Egg shells are so good for so much. Thank you for other ideas.

I wash my eggshells right away with hot water, put them on a sheet and let that dry on the heater. I crush or grind them and use them as plantfood for tomatos. Helps against tomatoflowers roting.

I kept chickens for years. When I used an egg, I simply crushed the shell in my hand and threw it in the chicken scrap bucket that went out daily. I'm going to check out consuming it for myself. But if the powder is just for the garden, I don't sterilize or bake in the oven. I just dry them out on the counter and them throw them in a larger container until I'm ready to grind into powder and use in the garden. Love your videos!

Great demo! I've been using powdered eggshells in the garden for a long time but hadn't thought of the other uses. My system might cut down on the work if you only use them in the garden, not sure if it is safe for human consumption though. Every time I have egg shells they go into a baking tray in the oven to use the residual heat from whatever I was making. If I hadn't used the oven I just save them for next time I use the oven, they can end up looking a bit scorched but it makes the job quicker.

69 yo female; for many YEARS have had muscle cramps at night, in the day with stretching and exercising. Tried many supplements including magnesium and potassium, B vitamins, with some help. Began having tachycardia more and more frequently, and gained 50 pounds within 6mos. Labs showed calcium level dipped suddenly. Been having horrific lower back pain with walking and shortness of breath. I noticed that tachycardia episodes would revert to normal a lot quicker if I chased down the beta blocker and my favorite supplements for tachycardia with buttermilk. It became apparent to me that I needed the calcium for my heart muscle. The tachycardia is making life untenable. So I ground up eggshells and ate about 1 tsp of them. (1000mg of calcium). Heart rate reverted back to a normal, PLUS, my back pain eased off. No back pain. Shortness of breath is much better, too. So, yeah...older ladies, don't be afraid to pulverize some egg shells and use it for calcium supplement (away from meals). Also, get your D3/K2, too.

How long do they last out on the counter after boiling and letting them dry if saving in a bucket to use for supplement powder when there’s enough shells collected? Can they sit out in a open container only so long when dried out before grinding down into powder?
@FromScratchFarmstead
@FromScratchFarmstead Жыл бұрын
As long as they are totally dried out, they should last on the counter just fine for several months. Did that answer your questions?

Useful video, thank you for spreading this knowledge. I will eat them (supplements). Question: if instead of boiling them right away, I store them in the freezer (until I have enough of them), then once enough, I boil and cook them in oven: that'd be ok too? Or the freezer would just help keep the bacterias alive? [I thought all I needed to do was wash them under warm water, put in freezee, cook.] Thanks again, more people need to know this, and stop wasting so much.

Do you need to you wash the shells off to remove any albumin and yolk before boiling? If not, how do you separate all the protein-y foam and chunks floating around after you boil the shells?
@FromScratchFarmstead

You could! Or it would be ideal to not stack the shells and then all of that should get cleaned out in boiling and just strain off the shells from the water and any other cooked egg pieces. Thanks for watching!

For people with gallbladder stones kidney stone issues, is this okay to consume?
@FromScratchFarmstead
@FromScratchFarmstead Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, may be best to check with your medical provider. Thanks for watching!
@Ad1nfernum
@Ad1nfernum Жыл бұрын
As someone with gallstones who has also tried this, I can say for that issue it's perfectly fine. Gallstones have no relationship whatsoever to calcium intake. Kidney stones would be one to talk to a doctor about - I would say if the person has been told to consume a low calcium diet or to avoid calcium supplements, then eggshell powder would not be safe for them. However, oddly enough, a diet low in calcium is a known risk factor for kidney stones. Oxalate and sodium consumption are strongly connected with the development of kidney stones, so definitely discuss with your healthcare provider whether you should be 1) reducing sodium intake and 2) increasing low-oxalate sources of calcium (like eggshell powder).
