My dog Koda needed a leg amputation because it might be cancerous. I cried and cried and decided to go on with the surgery. Koda was walking without aid 2 days later and NO pain. He is resilient and I need to be too for Koda. It has been hard for me and my family to decide the best care for Koda. Koda is the sweetest dog and has handled this with grace. This is my take away, handle life with grace.

It’s hard to imagine what you go through every day. Dealing with lost, sick, tragic animals is traumatic and mentally exhausting. When you compound that with the reasons you're so dedicated, it's almost sad. Almost sad, but inspiring.... Keep working on it and focus on growth.... Good job, friend. Never above you, never below you, always right there with you, for always.

Mental health... everyone has a story. Everyone has something going on in their life that tests them beyond human understanding... I think sometimes the universe is testing us to see how well we handle it. As one gets older, that gets harder. You are young...you have a wonderful dream that you are making come true. ❤with all the support you could ever ask for. Even if there are people who are "haters" you WILL SUCCEED.. and yes, it's going to be the journey of your life.. ENJOY IT, EMBRACE EVERY MOMENT.. because the time will fly by faster than you could EVER IMAGINE. I am one of those who would love to be part of your life.. I have reinvented myself 4x.. I'm no spring chicken but I enjoy work and there is nothing that can stop me if I put my mind to it... only problem now is, the tank is empty. I need help or a purpose as starting over is Not an option. Sometimes, Lee, there is no help. Sometimes there is Noone. But that's my problem. You have a dream and it's a BIG ONE. IT WILL TAKE TIME AND IM SURE YOU WILL HAVE LOTTS OF OBSTACLES.... BUT YOU HAVE THOUSAND AND THOUSANDS AND MANY PEOPLE WHO WILL HELP YOU OR CATCH YOU WHEN YOU FALL... I wish for you the MOST SUCCESS AND THE BEST LIFE FOR YOU AND YOUR DOGGIES, EVER. YOU ARE AN EXCEPTIONALLY WONDERFUL CARING PERSON. ❤💖 YOU WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE. YOUR VIDEOS ARE THERAPY FOR MANY OF US OLDER FOLKS. A REMINDER THAT THERE IS STILL HOPE .. AS THE WORLD HAS CHANGED SO VERY VERY MUCH. HUGG THE DOGGIES. ENJOY EVERY MINUTE. WE ALL ENJOY AND 💘LOVE WHAT YOU DO. 🐕❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

You are a man with a huge sensitive heart, and it is so rare. Most people don't let their feelings even escape a tiny crack. You are doing everything you can to be healthy and live the life you want with animals. I love that you try to explain the reality to those that look at you and think the job would be fun. I think they realize the property and love you share with the dogs is enviable, however they never think about the pain of losing a dog. I love how you said you will walk with all the dogs again someday. We need so many more people like you on earth. Please ignore the hate.. it is jealousy and closed-minded people who enjoy hurting others. Please give all the dogs love and smoochies from me especially Tommy Boy. He reminds me of my Pugsly, a female English bulldog who loved her food. I love how he carries a toy.

It's even harder being in rescue. It's not just your own personal dog dying at some point, it's all the dogs you couldn't save, all the dogs you want to save but don't have a home large enough to, the horrors you see day in and day out, the responsibility you feel when you home a foster dog and realize it wasn't the place the humans promised you it would be... what Lee (and anyone else bleeding rescue) needs is for other animal lovers to get involved and open their homes to foster. Putting yourself at the front lines to make a difference is something I wish far more people in these comment threads would do.

What a wonderful, moving vid. Jeeze, Lee, you're hard on yourself. Where does that drive for perfection come from ? You,re obviously a very driven person. To achieve what you have in so short a time. Nothing short of miraculous. On top of all that, you want to become a better person in yourself! Now that,s what I call pressure.! I feel so compassionate for your state of mind. But maybe you trying to achieve too much too soon, psychologically and spiritually speaking. You're very awareness will prevent you from ever being a real dickhead. ! It sounds as though you are suffering from PTSD. For whatever reasons. A lot of us are. Sometimes, just recognising that is a help. You know you are loved and appreciated by all of us. Sorry. As much as I love animals, I don’t kid myself that I could do what you do. I volunteer at a shelter and the only way I can is to keep saying to myself, “ they don’t need your pity, they need your help.” It also applies to people…. Lee, I’ve struggled with chronic mental illness for over 60 years. I choose not to let that define me. Does it limit me…yes. But I have also accomplished achievements that I never thought possible. I too have a deep love for animals. My dogs bring so much joy to my life. When I feel overwhelmed by life’s stressors your videos always help me to feel grounded. I was able to earn a graduate degree in Clinical Psychological. When I worked as a therapist I considered it a privilege to share that intimate journey of healing and growth with my clients. I would imagine that your Therapist may feel the same way. I too also strive to be the best version of myself that is possible. Perfection actually is a state of stagnation. In seeking growth, understanding and healing we are able to compel ourselves to remain in a perpetual state of motion/action/growth. Only in that state can we be of service to ourselves and others…including fuzzy others 😊. Thank you so much for your service. And for keeping me grounded.

Tommy stuck on that paddle board was the most adorable thing ever! And Lee was cracking up, he couldn't stop laughing. We all know if Tommy fell in, Lee would have been in after him instantly. When Tommy runs with the pack, carrying his ball with his chin held so high, that gives me such joy! Also partial to Poppy. She's just precious. Oh heck, they're ALL precious! And none more sweet than the alpha dog himself, Lee. Keep up the great work, everyone at the Asher House! 🎉💜 Love you all.🥰

We are all a work on progress. I see so many wonderful comments supporting others who are struggling. I see people comment who are not afraid to share their struggles and that is a good thing. I can remember a dark time in my life when I had 6 little shih tzu eyes staring at me and they were what kept me going. Got me up in the morning. All rescued and I couldn’t let them down. Thank you to you and the community you have built to allow others a safe space to come to.

Glad to hear that you are in counseling because it is hard to hear when you speak negatively of yourself. Many of us have negative self-talk and the messages that we tell us ourselves are often far worse than anything others say to us. The prevalence of depression and anxiety disorders are at an all-time high post-COVID. These disorders can be extremely debilitating, both emotionally and physically. Sometimes people need to see a counselor more than once a week when dealing with a lot. One and four women and one and eight men will have major depressive disorder at some point in their lives. The lifetime prevalence rate of anxiety disorders is about 1/3 of the population. Thus, mental health concerns are actually quite common, and it is good to have an open dialogue about it. Thankfully, there has been a cultural shift towards people being more aware and accepting persons struggling with their mental health. Society at large is also far more accepting of persons seeking treatment for mental illness. Lee, I am glad that you made a point to talk about these issues. You legitimately have an enormously stressful job of taking care of your workers and ensuring the care of all the animals. We just get to see a glimpse of your life and I’m glad people are realizing that everything isn’t sunshine and ROSES. I know that you too have struggles and I think you are a tremendously incredible person. I know that a lot of people tell you that, but I hope that you can truly internalize that message. When I see you interact with animals, particularly those that have been harmed by others or mistreated in some way, you have such incredible empathy and a level of kindness that make the animals fall in love with you. You have such a gentleness in your soul that emanates from you, which is truly magnificent. You are also entitled to feel anger, upset, and sadness, as we all have a spectrum of emotions. However, at your core is an incredible man. I just hope you can see that.😊 Animals are the best judge of character and you have won all their hearts!

Lee Asher….. you are struggling with self worth, you question yourself , doubt yourself, and this comes with depression. You my friend have a great purpose in this life, I know you know that in your heart . I’m a believer that God has put you here to do exactly what you’re doing! Whatever struggles you have gone thru, it led you to rescue dogs , and you do a amazing job of helping and caring for animals. You have a kind heart and soul. Then you question this purpose You doubt yourself. Someday, take a walk on your property and talk to God, build a relationship with him. Just you and him, he will guide you, you see Lee, he had a purpose for you in this life, you need to accept that, not question it. I’m a firm believer that you’re here and doing what you’re doing. But sometimes with depression, people question themselves, why me? I’m not a big religious person, but sometimes I have to accept That my life will have struggles, And it always seem that when I ask “why me”, I start doubting myself. I guess what I’m trying to say to you, accept who you are, accept what you are doing with these dogs. They have given you a purpose in life….. Giving them love and a better life . What’s that saying? A dog is your best friend ! I truly hope with your therapy, and you accepting your purpose here on earth, you will find the peace within you. Once that happens, you will no longer Question yourself. You are a amazing man, and what you do in life , is exactly why you are here! Your past is just that, it was a Path that led you to be the keeper of these wonderful dogs! Let go of the past, it’s hard to do, been there done that ! Once you find peace within yourself, and accept and not question who you are, your heat and soul will be healed!

Lee shows true altruism at its best. We see on KZbin 5-10 mins of his day. Yet that small window of his day makes my day feel a whole lot better knowing he and his team at Asher house exist to give those beautiful dogs the best possible life they can. I can understand the heartache of losing one of the pack and that never leaves someone. However without Lee and the Asher house, this world would be a worse place. Thank you so so so much for this channel and sharing the pack news as well as your own thoughts on life and mental well being. ❤❤❤❤❤

To Lee, a lovely soul, since I found your channel some time ago and I watch the videos, listen to the many stories of your pack and yes I often feel, -like other of your viewers- I would like to be with you and all these lovely creatures you are caring for. You make my day, I often cry, listening to you, your honesty, love for the animals but also for the world we are living in....you are my therapist😘, because the tears are a release, help and do come from within .💓💓💓💓 What you said," be good not only to animals, " is somehow difficult to me, I ve lived ( am 75, widowed twice), and have a saying...." I prefer animals i.s.o people", they are honest, don t let you down...this of course is due to how I lived my life, my upbri nging, what has been happened ( to me) ...I ll have to start thinking ...( for me!!!)😟 they say you are never too old to change.... and to realise that life is opportunities/ lessons, you can ignore them or learn from them!!! not easy So please continue the way you chose, there should be more lovely people like you, the world would be a better place!!! I love you, a Belgian....from France. ps my doggy (my 8 th Briard) is now 11 and getting some health problems....I m already terrified for when he ll pass & cross the rainbow bridge, will be devastating, like it always was when I lost one of them.... as he is my only reason to continue at the moment. !!! i ll propably go helping at a rescue center, as I ve done before. lots of love❤❤❤❤❤❤

Going to therapy is a chance for you to focus on your need to heal from the trauma in your past. For that 50 minutes, you don’t have to be magnanimous or take care of others. All of us who had shitty childhoods share your desire to be done with dealing with it. The work gets easier, but it doesn’t end. You’ve learned to balance the trauma with the incredible amount of love you share with your animals. That’s a really healthy choice. You also inspire others to be better. It’s one helluva legacy you’re building, my friend.

Hey, everyone! Thank you, to Lee, to y’all. I’ve been in a very low place for the past 4 years. My husband was extremely sick for two years and passed away two years ago. I have prayed fervently for death. Yet, somehow, I found The Asher House and Lee two years ago. He reminds me so much of the beauty of my now deceased husband. We saved quite a few even with all the stress we were dealing with just to keep him alive. I’m looking for my own spot to pass away (it’s coming). I am not afraid. I’m simply looking for peace. I’ve been in touch with so many advertisers and people to let them now they should support Lee and his dream. He’s selfless. He’s kind. The real deal. I’m so happy I found him. That I found y’all. Thank you, for giving me the Will to go on. Until I can’t. Love to everyone.❤️

Wow, what a great video! Lee, remind me so much of my brother, the late artist, Stephen Huneck. If you don’t know of him, you should look him up. He loved dogs so much that he built a chapel and this was a place for people who lost a pet to mourn the loss and put the name of their pet up on the wall. It’s in Saint Johnsbury Vermont “The Dog Chapel”. He made beautiful carvings of dogs and pictures and 15 children’s books and many other things anyway, I always think of him when I watch your videos, he also had a lot of land and numerous dogs. Unfortunately, he also had a lifelong problem with depression and anxiety. Without getting in to personal or into too many details I’ll just say he committed suicide in 2010. We are so sad that he didn’t reach out to any of us and this tragedy happened. I thought this was a good time to bring this up about mental health month and untreated what can happen. Thank you for all you do! The world is a better place because of you!

Which is a great unexpected side effect, because lately I am starting to have multiple orgasms regularily. I don‘t mean to overshare, but want to prove your point how important sexual health is! I used to be very active between 25-35 and never found a man who valued me. Unless I find that man, I will stay celibate. ✌🏼😇 I highly recommend it, unless you have found the one. ❤🙏🏼 And no I am not religious, I just now my selfworth.

@karadiberlino Oh, absolutely, I understand. I work as a Sex Coach and an ADHD coach. I also work in an adult store. Masturbating is incredible for the mind & body. The 1 person for someone is not something that's for me. I identify as humanistic as far as sexuality goes because sexuality is fluid and not fixed. It all matters what you think sex, love, and intimacy are. They're components of individual human beings. Having experiences with people is incredible without whatever you think sex is or should be. Just be careful with whom you're given the power of validation for you. Waiting for others to make you feel happy mentally, physically, emotionally, and sexually isn't always a feasible solution. Because you're missing out on the life around you. But if you're happy, then it's perfectly fine. Have an amazing day 💜.

Maybe not phisically but in your heart and your mind 🥰 it is not a goodbye, only a „see you later“ ❤️ please continue to be a hero for all the rescued dogs.

💕 thank you for this video 💕this Valentine's day my 18 year old Lizzie dog went to doggy heaven. It was a great loss, but when I think about her our love fills my heart. Her ashes are in my truck and she still comes with me every where. That little stabyhoun Saved me so many times. You are perfect and your dogs know it.. 💕🤠

You are seeing the bigger picture of why we are here. We are stewards of this planet and caregivers to our fellow humans and animals. It takes an enlightened soul to be willing to sacrifice ourselves for the wellbeing of another. To see that they have what they need brings joy to our hearts but it is not without sorrow and sacrifice. Thank you for opening up. We are only human and at times it’s a beautiful experience and other times it is a struggle. You and your staff are a gift to this world ❤

Thank you for continuing to show your journey. We are conditioned to not burden or show others that things may not be “fine”. It’s almost considered rude to reply with an honest answer when asked “how are you”. Let’s change the paradigm - let’s be honest and kind to ourselves and others. It’s okay to not be okay. Most people out there actually want to help but it seems impossible in your inner conversation. Thanks for showing videos of your honest life and lovely animals!
