The reason I play DK today is because he was a legit counter to Snake AND Metaknight (arguably the best two) back in Brawl with his invincibility frames and giant punch. I really wish they let him keep his frame one invincibility on aerial up special. Idk why they chose to remove it 😢

There should be a projectile defense for heavies. Like how bowser has boss armor for those consecutive melee hits. Donkey Kong gets bopped by small characters for beings so big and is easy to hit. He does well but some characters are just stronger

He did great. He managed to play around projectiles a lot. I have now seen him perfect shield and also move around them like an obstacle course. He did great. Btw.. not an unwinnable matchup. DK has no unwinnable matchups. Some may be more on the opponent's favor. But not unwinnable. DK can manage any matchup. 👍 Edit: Not sure why everyone always thinks that projectiles may be hard obstacles to make matchups impossible. I can understand Steve. He makes blocking and stuff. But patience and knowing your way around it is not impossible either. Especially if you figured it all out for your character. In which goes into studying and practicing if that is your hard thing to get around. Just practice. But it also goes with projectiles. I understand that there are games that make it near impossible. Which is true. There is Marvel vs Capcom with Magneto vs Mayor. Can be done. But is extremely tough to get around. But Smash isn't one of those games. Even the slow moving Ganondorf can win against them if the player knows around it and knows how to deal with it. Just saying. DK can as well. He is a heavy and can get juggled. But not impossible to get by some situations as others are more true. The only problem is his recovery. Now Smash players know. Smash isn't a hard matchup when it comes to projectiles. That is how I feel. But then again. I don't mind projectiles as it doesn't bother me much. Yes, I will get hit and you have to make your way through some stuff. But still doesn't bother me as I can make a way.

Minor nitpick, 4:47 Chunky went for a grab not a dash attack. Chucky could have clashed with Snakes up tilt if it was a dash attack but the grab attempt left him vulnerable to lose the stock. Chucky knew a grab would ko Snake off stage at the percent which is why he did exactly that with the next stock. Lol

in the snake vs dk matchup all dk needs are 3 openings and the stock is taken. ideally grabs. dk will live until 150+ every stock basically too bc its all chip dmg for the most part. AK's mixup neutral grenade + c4 placement is definitely spammy but its really well executed. its also not as effective as it appears. its the explosions to be worried about not the grenades themselves so timing all of the explosions to be in important positions around the stage in relation to you and the opponent can be difficult. the grenade spam is also super necessary bc once dk gets in, he can destroy snake, especially with a proper edgeguard and ledge trap. if snake plays anywhere near perfect he should 3 stock DK but unfortunately its definitely not that easy and with so many explosions and scenarios snake will definitely mess up a lot. one bad line of judgments from snake and your stock is gone and you have to approach now. snake should win on paper but its not crazy for dk to perform well.

if the opponent is good, they will start reading all of your patterns and once you know what snake will do, hes very easy to counter. in that regard, you gotta give props to AK for having so many tricks and patterns and scenarios up his sleeve so that hes hard to read. thats the problem with a lot of snakes is that they do very well the first two stocks then become so predictable that they flub the rest.
