Maybe its an idea to make another Route 1 bird and make that Flying/Psychic or Fairy around a sun theme. Make it obtainable during the day, while the Peplark line is obtainable during the night. This completely sets it apart from the other regional birds as well.

Pyrate also sounds "Pyre+Rat"! Pyre being a word that means "a pile or heap of wood or other combustible material" but has evolved to be a synonym for fire.

Fenrier reminds me of a regional lycanroc. The bird line was awesome and I liked the dark bug line more than the fairy line. The last one in the fairy line didn’t strike me as cute as some other Butterfree like Pokémon such as beautifly and vivillon.

Because your region is based on western United stated then I can suggest these as starters and these as route one Starters : fire starter - horse Grass starter - raccoon Water starter - I don’t know Route 1 : rodent - opposum Bug - I don’t know Bird - bald eagle Canine - coyote

My Route 1 Bugs are Kiribee and Verdeetle, based on the killer bee and the Palo Verde beetle. Kiribee has a unique ability called Swarming. Once it reaches 50% health it summons a swarm of bees. I designed it to be a bug type counterpart to Wishiwashi.

I never understood why ice types were available so late in most games. And as a husky lover, I love fenrier. Adding ghost helps with the fighting type, but does add some other weaknesses. A lot of the route 1 pokemon counter each other in really neat ways: the fairy/bug can hit the bird for supereffevtive damage, which would definitely prey on both route 1 bugs. The wolf and birds both complement and counter each other: ice beats flying, dark bears ghost, but the two lines feel like they'd get along rather than be rivals in the way that crows follow wolves around. And then there's pyrat, who hits both bugs and fenrier for supereffective damage, though no longer resists the secondary typings of ghost and dark. Idk if all that was planned from the start, but it's probably the most "alive" a route has ever actually felt to me. Like it is an actual micro eco system unto itself, even if those specific pokemon lines would be available elsewhere in the region.

Vol aroma is probably my favourite Pokemon and I use it in competitive all the time. Moths are my favourite animal and I would love to see you make one that is inspired by the Luna moth. Psychic and bug type. A fortune teller's partner. With eyes like crystal balls and wings like the night sky with a pattern over its chest that is a crescent made of jade or blue quartz. I would love to see that!

I have my route 1 bug based on assassin bug, Terminymph. A bug/fire at first stage (based on the sensation you feel when bitten by one), then evolved into bug/steel or bug/Poison, depending on gender.

I just made a region based off Africa called the “Bantu Region” and made a route 1 bird that’s a peacock. Peachik, fowltune (fowl and fortune), and peafuture (peacock and future). It will be a flying/psychic type. The Pokédex entry is the “fortune teller Pokémon” peachik are defenseless and can mimic other birds so they can get fed, fowltune have unlocked its psychic powers and can telepathically move things with their mind, peafuture always knows what’s going to happen in the future and because of this they can protect people if needed, their eyes on their feathers can hypnotize any foe. Different male and female evolution. The route 1 normal type for the Bantu region is named “Babacute (normal)” level 20 it evolves into Baboom (normal/fighting). The baboon Pokémon.
